Where would you go for a cheap vacation in North America in Feb or March, somewhere cheap, warm & beachy and also cheap.

I just want a week in the sun, I don't give a shit if it's tacky. However, I do give a shit if there are a million frat boys puking everywhere. It'll be me and my then-4-5 mo pregnant wife, looking to be comfortable and warm and not at home for a week. where do we go?

A year ago I would have said Biloxi - on the water, casinos, mostly popular with old people.

Fly into Cancun and head South. My family and some friends rented a house (on the cheap...comparable to hotel) in some po-dunk small town somewhere on the coast. Ate at the local restaurants, etc. Good times.

Or: go to Cabo (on Baja) and head North. Camp.

Oops, I mean Tunica. I think that was the one with nicer casinos. But I think Katrina tore them both up.

One-week Hawaii package deal maybe? California's not really warm at that time.

San Blas Mexico. Fly into Guadalajara or Puerto Vallarta and take the bus. http://www.sanblasmexico.com/

mesquite, nevada. a cheaper place you will not find. 1:30 from vegas. lots of old people. fucking beautiful desert-y scenery. utah national parks close by, lake powell too. you'd probably want a car.

Tunica is up near Memphis, not on the coast, and is undamaged. Maybe you meant Gulfport?

There are probably a lot of Florida coastal cities that aren't fratboy destinations, aren't there?

Mobile or Gulf Shores, Alabama, maybe? They avoided the worst of the storms this year, and my wife and I both have family who like to go there instead of Florida or MS (which is kinda stank once you get away from the casinos anyway).

If you don't go during Spring Break, and don't go to a city with a large college or university, anywhere in Florida should be fine. Don't quote me, but I think I read that the Gulf side is warmer than the Atlantic side...?

what's your definition of cheap?

Baja... but personally, I would go to San Diego. I really like it, and the airfare there from Seattle is usually pretty cheap. I don't know how it is to fly there from other places, though.

guantanamo - cheap accomodation, diets catered to, no need to learn a new language, all outdoors camping and a stereo system blasting eminem and meatloaf 24/7. to avoid international incidents, do not shiton the koran. I repeat, do not shit on the koran.

actually mobile suffered some significant katrina damage (and ain't that near the beach), and gulf shores got hit pretty hard by ivan last year. not sure what has been rebuilt in the past year, so definitely check before making any plans.
