beanz (beanz), Thursday, 1 December 2005 13:08 (nineteen years ago)

you are being gouged on butter and jam.

Ed (dali), Thursday, 1 December 2005 13:09 (nineteen years ago)

It's almost 50% of an increase on bagels.

Rumpie (lil drummer girl parumpumpumpu), Thursday, 1 December 2005 13:17 (nineteen years ago)

How much extra bread do you get for the 15p "bread" compared with the 10p "bread slice"?

James Ward (jamesmichaelward), Thursday, 1 December 2005 14:07 (nineteen years ago)

Meat £1.65

!! YUM !!

JimD (JimD), Thursday, 1 December 2005 14:13 (nineteen years ago)

Nearly 100% I mean... even worse!

Yeah, I'll be going for the 10p bread option, but I ain't paying 50p for a pat of butter to adorn it. You need two of those little butter things to cover a slice of bread anyway.

Rumpie (lil drummer girl parumpumpumpu), Thursday, 1 December 2005 14:15 (nineteen years ago)

50p is insane for butter.

James Ward (jamesmichaelward), Thursday, 1 December 2005 14:18 (nineteen years ago)

The healthy stuff has all gone up more...Get Jamie Oliver in to tell them off!

smee (smee), Thursday, 1 December 2005 14:42 (nineteen years ago)

hahaha, you have to *pay* for butter pats?

I didn't realise we did until this was circulated...

Rumpie (lil drummer girl parumpumpumpu), Thursday, 1 December 2005 15:17 (nineteen years ago)

50p for butter? Does it come from kobe dairy cows or something?

beanz (beanz), Thursday, 1 December 2005 15:19 (nineteen years ago)

Isn't 50p the price for bread WITH butter or jam?

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 1 December 2005 15:50 (nineteen years ago)

No, it's self service and the bread is confusingly 10p or 15p.

We're thinking of boycotting them but we're kind of captive here being out in the sticks n all.

I may start making sandwiches at home and selling them in the office. Maybe buy in a job lot of sausage rolls and pies. REAL foor for the people.

I look upon your works and I despair.

Maybe butter & jam @ 50p a mistake for only 5p really?

Is the catering 'in-house' or 'out-sourced' to a contractor?

If to a contractor did the company change recently?

Has the facility just been refurbished, & have the increases been introduced to pay for it?

Did your employer use to subsidise the catering & now has decided to reduce or eliminate that subsidy altogether?

Perhaps employee benefits are being re-prioritised & the former subsidy now goes into the pension fund so that all employees & not just Bistro users benefit.

Perhaps they forgot to budget for the 4% increase in the National Minimum Wage of the catering staff & now they have to get it back.

The largest % increases are on the cooked food: if you guys stop buying those they can cut the staff, sell the equipment, save on its maintenance & that of the extraction, have a smaller space for the kitchen & re-use it for something more productive, just buy in & sell sandwiches & rolls.
