Better get this in early as people's calendar's start filling up. Ideally, this would take place sometime close enough to Christmas to make everyone demob happy and/or off work the next day, but not so close that everyone will have buggered off home. I'm thinking Wednesday 21st - any takers?

(I personally will be in London all the way through Christmas and can do any day other than the 20th, I think)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 1 December 2005 13:26 (nineteen years ago)

I leave London on the 20th so ideally before then, but then I always have the post Christmas crawl to sate me if this hurtz people.

Wwas there a Tracer FAP on the Monday?

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 1 December 2005 13:31 (nineteen years ago)

I think we work right through the Friday, but I suspect most people will be zooming off at around that point, so Wednesday or Thursday would seem best. I don't think I have anything else planned around then.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 1 December 2005 13:32 (nineteen years ago)

I'll be heading to the frozen North on the 21st, at least two days earlier than I wanted to leave - thank you Virgin Trains

Oh No, It's Dadaismus (and His Endless Stupid Jokes) (Dada), Thursday, 1 December 2005 13:34 (nineteen years ago)

Friday 16th, maybe?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 1 December 2005 13:35 (nineteen years ago)

No, may have a Curves gig on the 16th and frankly I'd just like to sit around a pub table and get drunk with you lot, rather than being all stressed and wearing a daft dress. ("But you often wear daft dresses Anna" - all of ILX)

Anna (Anna), Thursday, 1 December 2005 14:09 (nineteen years ago)

16th good.

Matt DC did you get my email?

Ed (dali), Thursday, 1 December 2005 14:11 (nineteen years ago)

uh, does that scream "FAP at the Curves gig" to anyone else?

xpost

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Thursday, 1 December 2005 14:11 (nineteen years ago)

Should we just cancel the gig, Anna, if it's going to be that stressful?

(I'm not being sarccy, honest. I'm just so stressed myself right now.)

Control your ponies, children! (kate), Thursday, 1 December 2005 14:11 (nineteen years ago)

I'd rather not do the 20th as I have a work Christmas party the following day and want to get twatted at the FAP, but I'm reasonable flexible.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 1 December 2005 14:18 (nineteen years ago)

I mean, FAP at the Curves gig would be an obvious solution, if it happens, but it's all so up in the air and stressful right now, argh.

Control your ponies, children! (kate), Thursday, 1 December 2005 14:21 (nineteen years ago)

I have a financial exam on the 20th, I've booked the 16th and I would rather do the 21st when all's said and done.

BARMS, Thursday, 1 December 2005 15:30 (nineteen years ago)

"I'd rather not do the 20th as I have a work Christmas party the following day and want to get twatted at the FAP,"

So what's the problem? Frickin' lightweight...

Hello Sunshine (Hello Sunshine), Thursday, 1 December 2005 15:36 (nineteen years ago)

Dec 21st is good. The week before is out for me. What about an old skool Glasshouse Stores thing with bar billiards etc etc

Dr.C, Thursday, 1 December 2005 15:42 (nineteen years ago)

I can't do the 16th. It's a bit early anyway.

RickyT (RickyT), Thursday, 1 December 2005 15:46 (nineteen years ago)

December 21st looks like the winner, sorry Pete. GHS is good but might be a bit hectic just before Christmas. Calthorpe maybe? As long as the pub isn't in the middle of Christmas Shopping Hell I don't really mind.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 1 December 2005 16:50 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, away from Oxford Street sounds a plan.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 1 December 2005 18:24 (nineteen years ago)

Not going to office xmas party but coming to fap, oh yes

beanz (beanz), Thursday, 1 December 2005 18:30 (nineteen years ago)

No one goes to shops anymore do they??

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 1 December 2005 18:34 (nineteen years ago)

bbbbbut what about when i get back to london on the 27th/28th?

hstencil (hstencil), Thursday, 1 December 2005 18:35 (nineteen years ago)

They usually have a post x-mas pub crawl thingie, so I think you'll be okay stence.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 1 December 2005 18:53 (nineteen years ago)

16th no good for me - xmas party at work at london zoo.

dog latin (dog latin), Thursday, 1 December 2005 18:57 (nineteen years ago)

You work at the London Zoo?!?!? Excellent!

Control your ponies, children! (kate), Thursday, 1 December 2005 19:00 (nineteen years ago)

Do you get to party with the monkeys and tigers and everything?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 1 December 2005 19:02 (nineteen years ago)

bbbbbut what about when i get back to london on the 27th/28th?

Pub crawl on the 28th, I think.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 2 December 2005 11:53 (nineteen years ago)

Marcello is also up for 21st.

Dr.C, Friday, 2 December 2005 12:50 (nineteen years ago)

December 21st looks like the winner

also U&K: VITALIC playing Nag Nag Nag that night too!

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Friday, 2 December 2005 13:03 (nineteen years ago)

OMG! Right, this is definitely the 21st now. I want to go Young Persons Dancing after.

Where do people fancy? I'm edging toward the Calthorpe - it's nice and centralish and won't be too rammed. Plus we all know where it is. No bar billiards though, but the potential for the GHS to be absolutely rammed that night is quite high.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 2 December 2005 13:21 (nineteen years ago)

Any pub within reach of Oxford Street is likely to be horrible then, yes. This leaves us more options than just the Calthorpe, but that's a more than decent shout, I'd say.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 2 December 2005 13:27 (nineteen years ago)

Oh no I have only just seen this thread! I can't do the 21st! (Though possibly the house party will finish soon enough to hopskipjump it over to Vitalic later on.)

The Lex (The Lex), Friday, 2 December 2005 15:35 (nineteen years ago)

Oh, you lucky bastards with your longer drinking hours, your heads are going to hurt like ruined hurty things on the 22nd :)

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 2 December 2005 20:39 (nineteen years ago)

Which pub then?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 8 December 2005 13:33 (nineteen years ago)

are there any that's 24-hours yet?

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 8 December 2005 13:40 (nineteen years ago)

Father Ted's in Hampstead and Vingt Quatre on the Fulham Road both have 24 hour licences. Don't know if they're actually serving at 7:30 on a Wednesday morning or not.

Hello Sunshine (Hello Sunshine), Thursday, 8 December 2005 13:45 (nineteen years ago)

the bull?

calderdale in the 70s (gareth), Thursday, 8 December 2005 13:47 (nineteen years ago)

http://www.timeout.com/london/bars/features/100.html

Hello Sunshine (Hello Sunshine), Thursday, 8 December 2005 13:48 (nineteen years ago)

what, the one in Barnes?

how about the Flask? They were doing Mulled cider this time last year.

Ed (dali), Thursday, 8 December 2005 13:49 (nineteen years ago)

did they rename the Father Ted's in Hampstead to Father Jack's to celebrate the fact?

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 8 December 2005 13:50 (nineteen years ago)

i still can't do the 21st. will there be a fap before then?

The Lex (The Lex), Thursday, 8 December 2005 13:52 (nineteen years ago)

there's one next week

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 8 December 2005 13:54 (nineteen years ago)

Is this the Bull on Upper Street?

I quite like The Enterprise, which has the advantage of being central, far enough from Oxford Street and capable of accommodation 20 or so mentalists.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 8 December 2005 13:55 (nineteen years ago)

matt DC be a trekkie shockah

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 8 December 2005 13:57 (nineteen years ago)

Also within walking distance of Nag Nag Nag...

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 8 December 2005 13:57 (nineteen years ago)

I like the Barnes idea.

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 8 December 2005 14:03 (nineteen years ago)

FAPJazz

Ed (dali), Thursday, 8 December 2005 14:04 (nineteen years ago)

No Jazz. I am Against. Jazz.

Control your ponies, children! (kate), Thursday, 8 December 2005 14:05 (nineteen years ago)

how can you be for hawkwind and against Jazz

Ed (dali), Thursday, 8 December 2005 14:05 (nineteen years ago)

Hawkwind = SPACEROCK.

Jazz = WANK.

OK, maybe that makes Hawkwind = SPACEWANK but how cool is that?

Control your ponies, children! (kate), Thursday, 8 December 2005 14:26 (nineteen years ago)

(OK, we should make a concerted effort to *stop* talking about Hawkwind on all the Xmas FAP threads, Ed!)

Control your ponies, children! (kate), Thursday, 8 December 2005 14:27 (nineteen years ago)

haha yeah talk about derailing threads kate! ;)

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 8 December 2005 14:28 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah. So I was at work until after midnight and I'll have to do the same tonight. Boooo.

marianna lcl (marianna lcl), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 08:36 (nineteen years ago)

boo. i shall be there at some point, although i have the same problem as emsk, being the clash with the rough trade and beggars bashes. emsk, whatcha gonna do?

oh lord, it's VITALIC at Nag Nag Nag as well! Anyone else going to that? Doors 10.30, he's not on til 1am though.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 08:51 (nineteen years ago)

Not sure I'm going to make it, I think I'm getting an tooth abscess, great timing, huh?

Vicky (Vicky), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 09:41 (nineteen years ago)

ew :(

i have men taking my windows to bits, depending on what time they finish and how much clearing up there is to do will determine if/when i come out tonight.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 10:36 (nineteen years ago)

Aaaan abcess? How horrible! I'm sorry to hear that. But surely BEER will make the pain go away?

I am going to try to drop in on my way to The Telescopes, but we shall see how long I stay and if indeed I even find my way up to the shoegazing at all.

Kate Classic (kate), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 10:44 (nineteen years ago)

Are you the tea boy, Carsmile?

Abscess - heavy bummer.

Jerry, what are you going to get?

PJ Miller (PJ Miller 68), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 10:58 (nineteen years ago)

matt dc, you up for vitalic? have guesty but might not actually end up going so if you want a freebie..?

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 11:32 (nineteen years ago)

chuck i am going early to the ruff trade do (8-9.30/10?) then headin to beggars. where is beggars one again? gah, i should just call s.

emsk ( emsk), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 11:36 (nineteen years ago)

I AM REALLY SORRY TO BE MISSING THIS

i totally meant to go to the next big london ile fap, but just can't do tonight.

As I can't be there, someone else will have to announce that Emma and I are now engaged. Cheers

:-)

Britain's Obtusest Shepherd (Alan), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 11:47 (nineteen years ago)

(and there goes another chance to see vitalic too. damn)

Britain's Obtusest Shepherd (Alan), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 11:48 (nineteen years ago)

Wow! Congratulations, hurrah, etc!

The Hills Are Alive With Celibate Cries (kate), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 11:48 (nineteen years ago)

(About the engagement, not the missing Vitalic, natch.)

The Hills Are Alive With Celibate Cries (kate), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 11:49 (nineteen years ago)

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure we'll be at most/part of the crawl next week. colds and flu withstanding

Britain's Obtusest Shepherd (Alan), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 11:57 (nineteen years ago)

Fantastic news! Congratulations to you both! You make a great couple and all that!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 12:11 (nineteen years ago)

Congrats! That's made me smile!

I forgot about Vitalic! Aww man!

marianna lcl (marianna lcl), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 13:06 (nineteen years ago)

I am shudderingly hungover and have last minute wobs shopping I really should be doing tomorrow so may have to skip Vitalic. I am resigned to the fact I will never see him live.

I'll be in the pub from about seven, I think.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 13:46 (nineteen years ago)

I have milk thistle with me. It's good for your liver.

I'll be in work until about 6:30 - 7:00 and then need to get there (horror film music) and not get lost (more horror film music.)

Anna (Anna), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 13:57 (nineteen years ago)

I'm bowing out of Vitalic too btw. I think he's a great DJ etc and I love Nag Nag Nag, but I just can't face it and have to go back to Wolverhampton tomorrow and teh thought of doing that on very little sleep fills me with creeping terror.

Anna (Anna), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 14:00 (nineteen years ago)

humph. so i've got two free tickets now going spare! anyone? bueller? fry?

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 14:02 (nineteen years ago)

What is Vitalic and can we eat them would I like them?

The Hills Are Alive With Celibate Cries (kate), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 14:03 (nineteen years ago)

fairly hard crunchy electroclash-breaksy type thing, kate - unlikely to be up your alley i don't think, but you're welcome to savour the flavour...

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 14:05 (nineteen years ago)

Hrrrmmm. Probably not, then, according to that description, but thanks anyway.

Anyway, what am I talking about? I'm going to see the Telescopes wibble seven different kinds of drone later tonight.

The Hills Are Alive With Celibate Cries (kate), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 14:06 (nineteen years ago)

Hurray for Alang and Emma!

(Have we had An ILX Wedding yet? The closest I can think of is Chris and Vicky, and that's really due to The Other Internet, as I understand it)

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 14:06 (nineteen years ago)

Are you coming tonight, Andrew? How's the job hunt going?

The Hills Are Alive With Celibate Cries (kate), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 14:10 (nineteen years ago)

I shall crack open a beer from the minibar to wash down some lemsip capsules in your honour.

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 14:19 (nineteen years ago)

Ed, go and see my Grandfather's herbarium if you are really in Singapore! I linked to it on the thread!

The Hills Are Alive With Celibate Cries (kate), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 14:20 (nineteen years ago)

I will be along after this.

Dave B (daveb), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 14:32 (nineteen years ago)

Actually Andrew I'd like to know if you are coming because then I shall visit a cash point and get you that tenner I STILL owe you.

Anna (Anna), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 14:37 (nineteen years ago)

i didn't know about vitalic aaargh aaargh

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 14:40 (nineteen years ago)

Just fuck whatever you're doing and come out Alex.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 14:42 (nineteen years ago)

i'm COMPLETELY BROKE

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 14:42 (nineteen years ago)

charlie is there still a ticket going spare?

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 14:45 (nineteen years ago)

I shall be along, looking slightly different. I'll be there early (~5) with ex-ILXor Ktee, if that impels anyone else pubwards.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 15:18 (nineteen years ago)

Andrew, you should change your appearance when you owe Anna money, not when she owes you!

I hope I'll be there fairly early too, but I think I need to go buy some comics first.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 15:46 (nineteen years ago)

I was able to attend!! It was fun, I like ILX people.

marianna lcl (marianna lcl), Thursday, 22 December 2005 00:30 (nineteen years ago)

Crap. Are you around tomorrow? I couldn't face the city tonight.

Who the hell do you THINK I am? I'm the goddamn Batman! (Barima), Thursday, 22 December 2005 02:23 (nineteen years ago)

I've just got in. The Lex and I went to Nag Nag Nag. Every single second of Vitalic was amazing, with the exception of whatever godawful indie travesty he did as an encore.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 22 December 2005 04:13 (nineteen years ago)

Was it Welsh indie?

Tim (Tim), Thursday, 22 December 2005 09:58 (nineteen years ago)

whatever godawful indie travesty he did as an encore.

??

Sororah T Massacre (blueski), Thursday, 22 December 2005 11:15 (nineteen years ago)

it was a really bad remix of something crap.

i'm really perky today, and working quite well.

if katie puts those photos of us at nag nag nag up soon, i will post them.

i demand that the RAVE BEAR photo is posted asap.

lovely fap!

The Lex (The Lex), Thursday, 22 December 2005 12:49 (nineteen years ago)

I would post the Ronan Golf Rave Bear but sadly I appear to have lost the thingummy that connects my phone to my PC. Which I've never actually used.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 22 December 2005 13:31 (nineteen years ago)

so you guys got in on my ticket ok?

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Thursday, 22 December 2005 13:32 (nineteen years ago)

mms it to me in about 2 hours time and I'll put it up tomorrow.

Ed (dali), Thursday, 22 December 2005 13:32 (nineteen years ago)

PJM, the shop shuts earlier than that.

JtN talked about when Paul Morley introduced him to his daughter. That was good, hearing about that.

Doncaster scored. That was the good aspect, of the football. Also, I like games that seem to go on for ever.

Chu bought me a nice bottle of beer and talked about songwriting and how to play guitar.

Hopkins, at the very end, wished me a GREAT Christmas, emphatically. That was nice of him - it seemed sincere - so I was touched.

the snowfox, Thursday, 22 December 2005 19:31 (nineteen years ago)

Will you be in the LRB shop at 18.45, The Pinefox and the Dirty Vicar?

T"AHT is what we did. sorry for not getting back to you, I do not have internet
access 24/7.

hello to everyone I met in pub.

DV (dirtyvicar), Friday, 23 December 2005 00:33 (nineteen years ago)

Yes, it was a long shot. But it's the thought that counts, at least when there's nothing to follow it up.

I have heard JtN's Morley Jr story - she takes after her mother.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller 68), Friday, 23 December 2005 11:13 (nineteen years ago)

Yes, it's good to have thoughts - they are cheap.

the snowfox, Friday, 23 December 2005 11:15 (nineteen years ago)

So far...

PJ Miller (PJ Miller 68), Friday, 23 December 2005 11:25 (nineteen years ago)

I am sorry to have missed this. I got knocked out on Sunday and have been groggy all week.

PF - thanks for your card! Mrs. Dr.C picked it up yesterday and asked who it was from - during my description of you, I may have used the phrase 'greatest living Englishman'. I am too crap to send cards myself - sorry.

Dr.C, Friday, 23 December 2005 11:56 (nineteen years ago)

Hello, everyone - DV, it was lovely to meet you~! Hope you enjoyed Hawkwind!

Sorry I had to leave so early but I actually managed to arrive early for the Telescopes and had to have a glass of wine in the horrible pub upstairs. But then it was shoegazery loveliness the rest of the evening. Someone even threw Converse at DeTwee (sp?)

Morgen und Nite were LOUD, so loud I had forgotten what it was like to listen to music that loud and psychedelic, it's actually strangely relaxing in a weird way, I felt quite out of it (in a good way) by the end of it. The Telescopes wibbled as well, they were also wonderful. It was a good, headcleaning sort of a noise. I feel like I've been emptied out.

Anywya, have a merry christmas, everyone who I didn't get to see (and those of you I did, too.)
