Morbid curiosity. What are you all doing this week?

Ronan, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Going out with cousin to cinema and have dinner/drinks. Talk with her about possible trip to NY (as I can get a FREE ticket). Write. Read. Go to art course. Already went to Japanese language class. Next week will be busier.

helenfordsdale, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i'm celebrating my birthday, which is today! hurrah for me!

nickie, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Bugger all from today. I'm trying to spend as little as possible, is why. So I'm tidying my flat, writing stuff, reading, walking, eating cheap food, and then on Friday I get glorious release in the form of the pub.

At work I'm writing a report for Terra/Lycos about their South American markets.

Tom, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Today I am finishing late assignments here in the library. Later I will go into town to meet a friend and make travel arrangements for my post exams extravaganza.

Tonight I will sit at home because noone will come out on a tuesday. Also I can't afford it.

Tomorrow I will probably come in to college and try and do some work. I might decide I don't want to do any and stay in bed though so we'll see.

Thursday I will sleep all day in preparation for going out on thursday night to the Red Box, which is a crappy enough club in Dublin. I would normally go somewhere else but this place is cheap in and it is normally full of people completely drunk or on drugs making the atmosphere pretty good.

Friday I will sleep all day in preparation for going to "the local" for beer. The local pub is filthy and there are fights there often, but it has a kind of "only 3 pubs in your town due to fucked up licensing laws and only one where young people go" charm.

Saturday I will go and find myself a job finally. I'm not sure what I'll do after Saturday afternoon. I havent thought that far ahead. I sound very anal having planned out my week. but there you go.

Ronan, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

the red box is indeed a dump, but the mere mention of it is making me homesick... you're a lucky young man, mr fitzgerald, and don't you forget it.

nickie, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

today i have called in sick hooray! so i am going to vacuum some more, maybe make another loaf of bread w/one of the recipes from the bread machine thread,

tomorrow i am finally going to see 'amelie,' which the moviefone man pronounces as 'aMEEE-LEE.' it's $5 movie day at the theatres near my office/apartment.

thursday i am seeing s process, a jersey band that i wrote about. also i am going to mail back my arbitron diary.

friday i am having lunch at the bar where i will have seen s process the night before - they just changed their lunch menu and apparently serve an excellent cod and chorizo chowder.

saturday i have my radio show and i think that night i'm going to see champale and the bigger lovers, if i'm not tired or cranky or i wind up staying out in princeton.

every day, i will take a shower, drink coffee, and catch up on my reading - i bought a couple of books with gift cards and they're all really excellent reading with interlocking/overlapping themes.

anyone up for brunch on saturday morning? in philadelphia, of course.

maura, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

If it's any consolation Nickie I keep thinking how much I'd like to not be living in Dublin. Happy Birthday by the way!

Ronan, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I am currently recovering from a hangover before heading off to Romford to raid their 2nd hand record shop. Apart from that...hmmm...I've got a website to design...

Sunday: Eastenders omnibus.

ethan, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

monday and tuesday, WORK but evenings of domestic bliss with RickyT and Boyfwiend, tomorrow - SOAS pub quiz YIP! Thursday = Saloon and Electrelane at Toynbee Hall Arts Cafe, Friday = not sure. does anyone in London want to see Lord of the Rings again? :)

katie, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

today - work and then pub for a birthday drinks kind of thing for another ile'er. Tomorrow - work and then quickly off to a pub in the Clerkenwell area to catch the mighty Spurs hopefully take a semi- final first leg lead against the scum of Chelsea (apologies to any Chelsea fans out there but you are scum, admit it). After that, besides work on Thursday and Friday, I don't know. I was going to try and see the 2 hour new Buffy on Thursday but I'll still be at work when it starts. The only other joy on the horizon will be using the new cooker which should be delivered to our flat today.

Jonnie, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I decided to have a sort out in the library. I wish I hadn't now. There are books and bits of papers everywhere. I wish I hadn't bothered now :(

jel, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

For the next couple of weeks I'm doing some freelance subbing on a 'New Age' health and beauty mag, at a daily rate that should see me sorted for the next couple of months. At the moment however I am horribly broke - goddamm xmas - so am restricting myself to seeing 'Mulholland Drive' at the w/e w/ some friends.

Andrew L, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm not doing anything today but tomorrow, I'm going to see Riviera at the Bull & Gate. On Thursday, I have an EXAM (bah) but then on Thursday night, I think I'm going to see Resident Alien so hurrah! I have no idea what I'm doing on Friday and on Saturday, I'm going to see Fosca at The Verge. Quite a good week (apart from the nastiness of an EXAM)

jamesmichaelward, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Come to the pub Starry! All this karaoke talk is giving me ideas though.

Tom, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Okay Tom! Although after my arsed throat trying to do LETS DANCE and shamefully having to back out as I could make no sound rather embarassingly, I do not think my name will be going down on any karaoke slips. Can't we just sing along to a jukebox in a nice corner of a pub lacking in karaoke bitches instead?

Sarah, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Good idea Sarah, as I am alcohol free (7.5 days now, wooo) I would not be good for karaoke... Other things I am doing this week: going to cinema with pals; going to yoga class; having thumbnail repaired; shopping in Top Shop sale as I haven't quite finished with it yet.

Emma, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Oh OK then, a pub with a juker if we must. Perhaps the Golden Lion which boasts the best jukebox in Soho?

Tom, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

What about the Glasshouse Stores? I am only saying this because I hear it has a Bar Billiards table - I can't remember ever going in there m'self. Apologies to those outside the M25...

Sarah, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

It doesnt have a jukebox though does it. Also I'm getting a bit annoyed with the Glasshouse Stores. It's always full of wankers.

Tom, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

There seem to be very few runners in the good central London pubs with jukeboxes stakes. Perhaps we should picket the Rupert Street Blue Posts demanding immediate jukebox restoration.

RickyT, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

No jukebox? Vvv poor. However after being introduced to the joys of Bar Billiards by BtG I have a very strong YEARN to play it again. Whilst drinking of the quality ales. Perhaps I might stop in there before getting down to the main jukebox singing along with action. Gosh, from DDR to BB, my health is surely going to slide even WORSE this year.

Sarah, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

List of things to do this week:

Today, tomorrow: game theory revision, econometrics revision. Thursday: fly to Edinburgh, attempt to get a train to St Andrews, fail due to industrial action. Friday: shit pants re: exams.

clive, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Other vital thing to do this week = watch Footballers Wives from the people who brought us Bad Girls! I have been looking forward to this for aeons (well ever since I found out about it).

Emma, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

A trip to the Prince of Monolulu is seeming more urgent by the day.

RickyT, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

This week -- well, right now I'm dealing with sinus annoyances, so that's not very exciting.

Rest of week -- work...work...work.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Mon-Thursday : Working in the USA sans luggage which Bloody British Airways have lost. I have spent hours being shunted around from switchboard to switchboard, non-existent phone number to non-existent phone number and I'm REALLY pissed off. I would rather chew my hands off than fly with those bastards EVER AGAIN. Mistakes happen, I accept that, but I hate any company which makes it so difficult for their customer to speak to them. It's not the fault of the 'workers' - I've no doubt some poor bastard is looking for my bag right now - it's just the fact that the management has put nothing in place to handle this common problem that upsets me. There. The only good thing is that I'll get some free clothes out of it.

Friday - Fly home.

Saturday - Watch son play football in morning. Buy some records, hopefully in afternoon. Evening - Fractured plus I Ludicrous at the Bull and Gate and I WILL GET PISSED!!

Dr. C, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Come and get pissed with me, ILX-ers!

Dr. C, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Its Prince Monolulu - Rick. "I 'ave an 'orse"

Pete, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I think I may go and see Dr C, if I have the money.

DG, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Sunday - sleep late, eat late breakfast, go to band practice, watch Sunday night TV

Ahh what a week.

Samantha, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Today, nothing. Yay!

Wednesday, going to a mock trial meeting and then coming home and finishing a health project and then more nothing.

Thursday, nothing.

Friday, no plans but things tend to come up.

Saturday, the same.

Sunday, scramble to learn song and write report for voice class final Monday morning.

Maria, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Apparrently, lots of naughty bits...

Hank, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

it must be terrible having a week planned out for you like that.

Ronan, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I will be working day and night this week in an attempt to dig in at my new job and finish up my old contract. In the midst of this, I also have to memorize the Mozart "Requiem" (sadly, not the solo bits) by Sunday. I must also do laundry at some point if I want to avoid wearing inappropriately sexy briefs to work.

Dan Perry, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

yes, it's quite taxing.

Hank, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I must go see "Lord of the rings" sometime this week.

Michael Bourke, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

swimming, trying to find a place to live, fighting the depression monster, reading.

e a m, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Samantha I still have not heard Hank's band but you are in for a treat w/Cherry Valance! They are ROCK. I swear those boys must lose 5 pounds every show.

Tomorrow: job interview. Buy replacement glassware for housemate. Cry over sold-out Breeders shows. Perhaps some bowling at Melody Lanes.

Thursday: nothing, nothing, see friend's band.

Friday: another interview. Hang with housemate. Frank's Lounge a possibility.

Saturday: hang around Grand Central terminal waiting for various IL-lowlifes to show their faces. Excitedly stumble into things, have enormous brunch, goof off, inevitably be last one there.

Sunday: nothing, nothing, huge paella dinner on South Oxford Street. Could laundry happen?? imPOSSible.

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 8 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Weekend agenda.
Go to Sheffield Friday evening, stay in and get bladdered>
Saturday, go to Magna centre to operate JCB, go out in evening and get bladdered.
Sunday, and relax.

Billy Dods, Wednesday, 9 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Tracer, I saw Cherry Valance at garage shock. Their music wasn't really my style but they were definitely interesting and the girl on guitar was great. I am looking forward to seeing them again. Hank's band Feast of Snakes has a record coming out on In The Red this year so everyone will get to hear them then. yay.

Samantha, Wednesday, 9 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

That which was lost is now found! Yay - British Airways found my bag. My week is looking up.

DG - I'll look out for you if you make it on Sat. I think I know what you look like from photos on ILX.

Other ILX-ers - if you're at a loose end do come to the Bull N Gate on Sat. I Ludicrous (aka 'John Peel faves I Ludicrous) are by some distance the best live band ever and I'll buy you a beer. Faractured are ace too.

OK, no more hard sell from me - promise ;)

Dr. C, Wednesday, 9 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Last night Sara + Becka + Me made pizza (base and all) and watched Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (and I remained bemused throughout having become slightly pishy on strawberry wine and forgot to read the subtitles), and I almost fainted at the sight of her HORRIFIC hickies.

Today I spent three hours wandering around Swinton being lost (If I were Swinton, I'd have FUCK ALL).

Tommorow = BUFFY series 6 fest.

Friday = 2 for 1 night at student union bar.

I have an essay, revision and a learning log to do also.

Graham, Wednesday, 9 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I have an unexplainable desire to try and drink guinness this week. feels like my duty as an irish person to try it.the fact that i think i hate it is the only problem.

Continuing to move house. Dinner at my sister's. Playing a gig. Sleeping.

electric sound of jim, Wednesday, 9 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Begging. If anyone has Sky TV and would like to invite me over to watch the Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I will love you. And buy you beer. Yes, I'm shamefully angling. We could watch the BBC2 Buffy and then the season 6 Buffy. Oh go on. Pleeeeeeease? *big eyes*?

Sarah, Thursday, 10 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Waaaaauuuuugh *faints*

Sarah, Thursday, 10 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I have sky! I can't stand Buffy!

chris, Thursday, 10 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

At least you can offer to buy people beer. beer is such good value over there. My brother mocks me for drinking "cans!", "cans!" he says. I almost feel like bringing back some beer next time I'm in London or wherever. but that would be tight. Also I'm missing Buffy due to social engagements. I will be using the video machine.

Ronan, Thursday, 10 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Needn't be beer! Could be wine! If you don't drink I could... um... I dunno, buy you dinner! I would say cook but then you run the gauntlet of the ANTI-COOK and it may not be pretty. I could make you cups of tea, and bring popcorn? I would be quiet! Um...

Sarah, Thursday, 10 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I quite fancy seeing Electrelane tonight but I realise Buffy is a higher priority.

Sarah, Thursday, 10 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

hmmmm, spanish league footie vs buffy, no contest for me I'm afraid, Guillaume will always be ahead of those pesky vampire sluggers. For the rest of the week though, tomorrow night Track and Field, Saturday, Strange fruit where I get to dj for first time in ages and see Dressy Bessy again.

Rest of the month = poverty and exhaustion.

chris, Thursday, 10 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

My week update - I've been all productive, the deadline on my work report is latah than I thought, Isabel's coming up tonight and I'm writing a piece about Morrissey and Paris for this Sunday's FT update.

But I still don't know what pub I'll be going to tomorrow night.

Tom, Thursday, 10 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

PUB QUIZ UPDATE: we went last night, and came second!! Yay! Our team was called AFRO KEN LIVES. We roXoRed.

Sarah, Thursday, 10 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I've got Sky, but BriXt0n ---> Chadwell Heath = MISSION.

DG, Thursday, 10 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Paris the rapper or Paris the city?

Nicole, Thursday, 10 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

update on Sarah's update: we were actually the AFRO KEN ALL STARS and came second and won 90P!!!!! flushed with success we shall be returning...

katie, Thursday, 10 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Where is this Prince Monolulu then?

Tom, Thursday, 10 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I would svae the Prince until he has been properly vetted. Last time I saw him he was being "done out".

Pete, Thursday, 10 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Maybe we will end up in the Glasshouse Stores grrr. Actually thinking about it I'm not quite sure why I've turned against it so - it's just always so busy on a Friday, but where isnt?

Tom, Thursday, 10 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Aye exactly. My guts are shrieking for a game of bar billiards and a decent pint but seeing as the first time I even saw this in London was in a pub @ Euston I can't think of any other places in Soho that haf it, despite INTENSIVE webfarming. Monolulu also near Warren St if I recall from publog. There seems to be a report of a bar billiards table in The Samuel Pepys in Clarges St (near Green Park) but I don't know how old that report would be or whatever. I'd like to have a game on Friday but if anyone can think of a good pub anyway which doesn't have one I don't mind - I'll always find another occasion to go, and of course my deres, the SCINTALLING ahem CONVO is the main reason for pub visit AYE? Well that and FINE ALES mmmm fragrant ale.

Sarah, Thursday, 10 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Bar Billiards DAMNATION what have I been THINKING Oxford is full of bar billiards well the Angel and Greyhound is - yourself and your young gentleman should come up for BOOZING sometime with myself and Mr Hewitt.

Tom, Thursday, 10 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Got up this morning & my streetrag editor asked me if I'd like to do a phone interview with Low *in 25 minutes*. Frantically wrote questions, did a rushed, pisspoor interview (will embellish it later). Sat around watching 'Beauty & The Beast' this afternoon (I might be masochistic, but I genuinely find Stan Zemanak amusing). Will head to Labradford tonight, do radio show tomorrow, and then go home to watch Survivor finale (its better than Big Brother, I swear). Possibly mediocre indie club on Sunday, if I can be bothered.

charles m, Friday, 11 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The week's half over but here's my schedule anyway: M: 10:00-5:00 Social History of the Soviet Union, followed by reading for class
T: 10:00-5:00 Social History of the Soviet Union, followed by reading for class
W: 10:00-5:00 Social History of the Soviet Union, followed by reading for class
TH: 10:00-5:00 Social History of the Soviet Union, followed by reading for class
F: 10:00-5:00 Social History of the Soviet Union, dinner at Ally's, drink champagne, watch Adam Ant videos.
S: this meet thing, possible midnight crusade
Su: sleep, watch tv So far I have done exactly as planned. I like the idea of having theme weeks. Last week all I did was play Dead Or Alive 3 and World Series Baseball 2K2, it was my best week in recent memory.
