being a hack? i didn't start this thread about sophia coppola, did i? geeze, louise. i thought i had for a second.

anyways, i'm not sure if de palma has made anything great since. well, i must admit that i haven't seen "snake eyes". but this movie is one of those rare cases of a talented (and occasionally patchy) director making an appropriate movie at the right time. all the little elements to support the story are there: craig wasson's god awful acting, the moroder-ish synths, the funny dialog, and the setting. mix that with some balls-deep depalma-esque hitchcock-ing (which usually includes gratuituous boobs in showers somewhere). viola! masterpiece. BELIEVE IT.

"Wise Guys" is an abundant movie, filled with ideas and gags and great characters. It never runs dry.
