Don't know if this has been done already, but he's growing more omnipresent. Join me now in hating James Nesbitt, before it's too late.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 6 December 2005 16:20 (twenty years ago)

OK!

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 6 December 2005 16:23 (twenty years ago)

Tell me who he is, that I may gain your approval by hating him as well.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 6 December 2005 16:23 (twenty years ago)

Imagine if he was your uncle. It's not difficult to imagine, but imagine how that would be.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 6 December 2005 16:24 (twenty years ago)

He'd cut your hair.

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 6 December 2005 16:24 (twenty years ago)

He'd take you to his Sky Sports log cabin.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 6 December 2005 16:25 (twenty years ago)

Actually he's not been on telly as much - still too much of course. He's in a play in the West End.

Oh No, It's Dadaismus (and His Endless Stupid Jokes) (Dada), Tuesday, 6 December 2005 16:25 (twenty years ago)

Forget about him being your uncle. Does he have kids? Imagine him being your dad.

James Ward (jamesmichaelward), Tuesday, 6 December 2005 16:29 (twenty years ago)

He's on ads all the time, he must have recorded them before this play. Plus he was on Man United's greatest ever goals thing aswell.

Why does he seem like such a prick?

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 6 December 2005 16:30 (twenty years ago)

Smugness

Oh No, It's Dadaismus (and His Endless Stupid Jokes) (Dada), Tuesday, 6 December 2005 16:32 (twenty years ago)

£40 for 45 games! That's less than a pound a game you think cunts!

Onimo (GerryNemo), Tuesday, 6 December 2005 16:35 (twenty years ago)

Bah! *THICK* CUNTS

Thick Cunt (GerryNemo), Tuesday, 6 December 2005 16:35 (twenty years ago)

whenever i get the plane to america there will be a quirky british comedy, usually starring james nesbitt, or someone who looks like james nesbitt. it will be about working class people, with regional aceents, but lilting and recognisable (apart from the stooge character, who will be incomprehensible), they will go on some kind of caper, which seems to be somewhere between intentional and accidental. it will be heartwarming.

the last one of these films i saw involved something about getting a ferry from wales to ireland, a hoodlum, and two suitcases, one with a lot of money in. they got mixed up, but, you knew this right? after all, its a british quirky comedy, of course two bags got mixed up, we wouldn't have a film industry if it wasn't for the two bags getting mixed up idea.

luckily, there was a jim carrey film on one of the other channels

calderdale in the 70s (gareth), Tuesday, 6 December 2005 16:36 (twenty years ago)

james nesbitt lives in my immediate area:

i jog round the park, there's JB sweatily sprinting past me.

i go to the pub, there' JB nursing a solitary pint of stella.

i go to a restaurant, there's JB picking at tapas opposite an extravagantly attractive oirish laydee.

i turn on the tv, it's fcking james nesbitt. etc.

barbarian cities (jaybob3005), Tuesday, 6 December 2005 16:56 (twenty years ago)

Why does he seem like such a prick?

I forgot the twinkly-eyed Oirish charmer part. God I hate that.

Oh No, It's Dadaismus (and His Endless Stupid Jokes) (Dada), Tuesday, 6 December 2005 16:58 (twenty years ago)

The TV is Fcking Jms Nesbitt?

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 6 December 2005 16:58 (twenty years ago)

James Nesbitt and Jimmy Carr

Oh No, It's Dadaismus (and His Endless Stupid Jokes) (Dada), Tuesday, 6 December 2005 16:59 (twenty years ago)

Some friends of mine bought their house off him, I suppose he sold it after Cold Feet became a success, and moved to the kind of higher-class area in which the likes of Barbarian Cities hang out.

They said he was an pleasure to buy an house from.

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 6 December 2005 17:06 (twenty years ago)

I don't mind him. But I still think of him as John Hannah's evil, more rubbish brother.

Sororah T Massacre (blueski), Tuesday, 6 December 2005 17:10 (twenty years ago)

More rubbish than John Hannah? Not possible.

Oh No, It's Dadaismus (and His Endless Stupid Jokes) (Dada), Tuesday, 6 December 2005 17:11 (twenty years ago)

i've seen him in two films and thought he was quite good, but then again i've not been exposed to him like you britishes

gear (gear), Tuesday, 6 December 2005 18:52 (twenty years ago)

I quite like him in things I have seen him in. But I can see how the ubiquitousness could get annoying. Perhaps if he didn't have the monopoly on Oirish chappishness, he would be less irritating.

The only thing he's ever done that's really irritated me was the adaptation of Christopher Brookmyre's "Quite Ugly One Morning" as that was one occasion where the character didn't even need to be a cheeky Oirish chappie, set, as it was, in Edinburgh and about, as it should have been, a Scottish bloke. Nothwithstanding the fact that they tampered with the plot so much that it was virtually unrecognisable, fucking ITV Drama Premiere bollocks... *grumbles grumpily to self for while*

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 6 December 2005 18:57 (twenty years ago)

He isn't even Irish, most likely!

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 6 December 2005 22:02 (twenty years ago)

I'd like to shoot the Man Utd repping Proddy twat in the face. Not for any of those reasons though, just cos he's a cunt.

Amity Wong (noodle vague), Tuesday, 6 December 2005 22:05 (twenty years ago)

Um, I've met him and he was quite nice. You know, just ordinary really. But that doesn't mean I can stand seeing him everywhere either. Just because someone's nice in real life doesn't mean they don't look like a wanker on telly.

Interestingly (or maybe not), I heard Ian Rankin on Rattlebag one day and he basically said that John Hannah was a terrible Rebus. In fact, to balance out the hate, I'm going to say that Ian Rankin sounds like a top bloke and hearing him interviewed made me want to read his books.

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Tuesday, 6 December 2005 22:06 (twenty years ago)

Don't know if this has been done already,

yes it has! by you!

james nesbett

jed_ (jed), Wednesday, 7 December 2005 09:04 (twenty years ago)

Thankyou.
James Nesbet is the most annoying man on TV ever - why the fuck is he on everything? why, more to the point, are the same actors in everything. Robson Green, Hermoine Norris, John Simm, David Morrisey, the bird from cutting it etc.

Nesbet is the worst tho, no contest. CUNT!

jed_ (jed), Wednesday, 7 December 2005 09:06 (twenty years ago)

I am now sober and would like to make it clear that I do not advocate shooting James Nesbitt in the face.

He's still a cunt though.

Amity Wong (noodle vague), Wednesday, 7 December 2005 09:10 (twenty years ago)

For about 3 years I thought he & John Hannah were the same person.

I imagine 'Jimmy' Nesbitt permanently out on the lash with Chris Evans, hammered on Guinness, with bloodshot cocaine eyes, dancing to Dodgy, trapped in a mid-90s cultural nadir.

bham, Wednesday, 7 December 2005 09:57 (twenty years ago)

Who is he?

TV-less Pashmina (Pashmina), Wednesday, 7 December 2005 10:08 (twenty years ago)

uh, are we saying 'proddy' these days?

Theorry Henry (Enrique), Wednesday, 7 December 2005 10:14 (twenty years ago)

I am when I'm pissed.

Amity Wong (noodle vague), Wednesday, 7 December 2005 10:16 (twenty years ago)

& I'm a atheist.

Amity Wong (noodle vague), Wednesday, 7 December 2005 10:16 (twenty years ago)

i think nesbitt is ok, is all i'm saying.

Theorry Henry (Enrique), Wednesday, 7 December 2005 10:19 (twenty years ago)

"Some friends of mine bought their house off him, I suppose he sold it after Cold Feet became a success, and moved to the kind of higher-class area in which the likes of Barbarian Cities hang out."

well, the tulse hill/herne hill boundaries are certainly aspirational, but i'm not sure they register as 'higher-class'. james nesbitt may change all this of course.

barbarian cities (jaybob3005), Wednesday, 7 December 2005 10:42 (twenty years ago)

I can't believe I did it already. Shame on me.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 7 December 2005 10:45 (twenty years ago)

Jealousy (at his godd looks and charm) can be confusing that way.

Kv_nol (Kv_nol), Wednesday, 7 December 2005 10:50 (twenty years ago)

Correction: "OF his GOOD looks."

Don't hate him but can see how it's possible. He strikes me as very slappable.

Kv_nol (Kv_nol), Wednesday, 7 December 2005 10:56 (twenty years ago)

Irish=Father Ted not Give My Head Peace
I used to know this Canadian comedian who could not believe Give My Head Peace. "Did the BBC guy just pick five people out of a Belfast bus queue?"

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Wednesday, 7 December 2005 10:58 (twenty years ago)
