well kids i am home in the nyc area and it is rapidly becoming apparent that i must spend as much time as possible outside of my hometown because it is becoming extremely oppressive for reasons i don't quite understand. however to enjoy myself in new york to any degree at all i will need to pretend that i am of drinking age. so i guess my question is where do i go? how much do i expect to spend? etc etc

When I was underage (before I moved to NO where the concept of underage doesn't really exist) I would buy two 40s from whatever sleazy liquor store would sell them to me and drink them as quickly as possible in an alley (specifically the alley behind the old Black Cat in DC). So you should try that. Pretend you're at a classy cocktail party with like Victor Navasky and Salman Rushdie and you'll cry less.
