I'm sooo sad, I had some Christmas station streaming while wrapping presents the other night....

WFMU is the peak, absolutely. http://wfmu.org/

WREK, the student station at Georgia Tech, has some very high highs and some real crap. "Psych-Out" on Wednesday nights is pretty cool. The guy who started the program several years ago is a friend of mine. Saturday nights: funny Subgenius programming, "The Hour of Slack" and "Bob's Slacktime Funhouse." http://www.wrek.org/

Resonance FM, out of London, is another mixed bag of highs and lows. For some reason every time I've tuned in lately, it's been hosts jabbering at each other, not so much music. http://www.resonancefm.com/

Static Beats, a good jungle station. I like it when I'm working -- keeps the pulse up, no brain cells required. http://staticbeats.com/

Dr. Dick's Dub Shack, for some of that thick ropy dub. http://dub.zionradio.com/

Dr. Yo - experimental and punk. I have it playing now and the last two artists were Ween and Ken Nordine. http://www.dr-yo.com/

American Mavericks - American modern/experimental/electroacoustic. Two streams, smooth and crunchy. http://musicmavericks.publicradio.org/

Technicolor Web of Sound - A great station for 60s and early 70s psych-esque rock and pop. Great period radio ads and promos, too. http://www.techwebsound.com/

Soma FM - 8 streams, including one right now of holiday oddities. http://www.somafm.com/

I do feel guilty for getting any perverse amusement out of it (Rock Hardy), Thursday, 15 December 2005 17:50 (twenty years ago)

http://www.kexp.org - generally good all around.
http://www.tuner2.com - lots of amazing AAC plus streams (super high
quality audio at low bitrates), stream via Winamp
http://www.kcrw.com - lots of good shows, including the ubiquitous 'morning becomes eclectic'

and, er.. um... (warning: shameless self promotion - i manage an internet radio company) http://www.icebergradio.com - some OK stuff, although a complete new site is beta-launching next week - new channels, etc. hopefully will be much better. the site up now is what i inherited when i joined, and i'm trying to get a much-improved version with better music channels up by early 2006... if you're into dance/electronic stuff we have tons of good shows, mind you. even more at our companion site http://www.1groove.com

five years pass...

Latest recommendations for punk, electronica, indie, sub-genres of those?

I like this Radio World interview with WFMU station mgr Ken Freedman, esp this last answer:

RW: Where do you learn about new technology each year, what trade shows or information sources?

Freedman: I keep abreast of new technology mainly from my children and their friends, as well as the youngest generation of programmers and superfans at WFMU. I also utilize Google and Flipboard news feeds, using search terms and keywords to focus my search. The advantage of relying on human beings rather than news feeds and trade shows cannot be underestimated. If you are confused about how to do something on Snapchat or Instagram for example, a digital native can show you precisely what you need to know.

Am I an idiot, or is there no way to listen back to a specific R3d Bull Radi0 show? If there is, they make it very difficult. I guess they give each show a 'channel' and randomly select one installment you can listen to?
