Couldn't Google make an anti-Google-proof Google if they wanted to?

You know, a search function that could generate possible variants on a name w/various characters changed and search out all of them? What say you, computer geeks?

If they do it, it'd be like when you're a kid and your friend says he has a "forcefield-cutting laser"

dude i've been thinking of this since the beginning of google-proofing, like couldn't they just have sort of a wild-card thing where searching for something with A in it also searches for 4 or @ in the same space? it would be very unethical to write such a thing though.

www.fatfingers.co.uk does something very similar with eBay searches, and got me wondering the same thing. It doesn't seem to just be using wildcards either - there's some kind of complex algorithm going on to do with keys nearby.

I guess you could always come up with ridiculous unlikely google-proofs like "M2RJSSA ^^YRCH+NT"

well i don't really mean wild card for real but i don't know what it's called, it's like the same thing though. i was afraid to talk about it until now in case i was the only one who thought of it and this was like a pandora's box of internet horror (!)

I think we should all just type in images called "0.jpg" to avoid this problem!

(now we wait for endless streams of googlers stopping by to tell me this doesn't actually work)
