kicking a pigeon to death - DUD

I know not many people like pigeons but there's no excuse for this.

I happen to like pigeons, I admire any animal classed as vermin.

Anyway, a colleague just watched two boys chase and kick an already injured pigeon while their mother looked on. She was afraid to say anything as it was a pretty hard faced looking family.

I don't know if I could have stopped myself.

You?

Kids that do this kind of thing grow up to be even bigger assholes.

Especially with parents like that.

I'd have gone loco, no question about it.

depends how hard the family looked. i think it's fucking despicable and disgusting behaviour, but i'm not sure me hoving up and going: "OY YOU LITTLE FUCKERS WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING" and then getting in a big fight with the mum would necessarily have solved anything.

What about walking up and going "real men feed them bicarbonate of soda"?

I'd have gone in screaming, grabbed the pigeon and run I think. And then wondered wtf to do with a half dead pigeon.

fuck it and eat it?

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Friday, 16 December 2005 14:02 (twenty years ago)

"I admire any animal classed as vermin"????

kicking an animal to death is obviously dud.

Years ago I worked in a kitchen factory and one of the (ex prison, for assaulting a policeman) employees caught a pigeon that’d flown into the building and threw it into the incinerator and stood there while it flapped about. He thought nothing wrong with this either.

Good lord. We'd all like to think we'd intervene, but I can sympathize with being paralyzed in that situation—all the violent stomping pheromones flying around. Sheesh. That mother!
BUT...Maybe they thought of it as a mercy killing, because the pigeon was in a bad way, but then kind of bungled the deed.
If I hit a squirrel and it's flipping around in the road I go back and run it over again. Maybe they were COUNTRY.

Rats, pigeons, urban foxes. I can't believe people slate animals for doing well.

I see plenty of injured pigeons in the town, in fact about half of them seem to be lacking a foot, dragging a wing whatever. But pigeons being pigeons they get along, pecking up chips and fag ends alongside their able-bodied brothers quite happily.

I wouldn't kick one to death.
