He was only 58? He looked so much older. In this thread (the five best american television shows ever) I voted West Wing and LA Law two of my favourite US shows ever, and he played one of my favourite characters in each show. I'm quite saddened by this, but I'm not sure why, knowing absolutely nothing about his personal life.

It gets a little spooky when people your parents' age (my father's exactly) start dying of sudden heart attacks.

He was the best actor on the show, though I've always been curious why he didn't flip that into more film roles.
