More specifically, an acoustic guitar on a Greyhound bus. Is there room in the overheads to fit a standard dreadnaught hardshell case? I assume there's no insulation in the baggage storage below and considering the holiday I imagine the bus will be full with no extra seats to put it in. It's about a five hour trip. The guitar has a satin-type finish so I'm not too worried about the finish cracking. Anyone have experience with this?

oh man. leave it at home. its the holidays! spend yr time hanging out with people you haven't seen in a while.
one of my greatest vacation moments took place in a byron bay hotel. my boyfriend at the time had this acoustic guitar and, sweet motherfucking jesus, he would not put that bitch down. i love playing guitar but when you're with one of those people who play their guitar 24/7, even when you're trying to talk to them (i don't mean a deep and meaningful, i mean like 'hey, where are the keys?’) and all they got are those dead eyes looking at you, you want to smash their face in.
anyway, he was playing his guitar of course, and i was out on the balcony with the balcony door closed, of course, when the hotel manager barges in the room and tells him to stop playing or leave. it was one of those beautiful, victorious, golden moments. of course, this was the same hotel manager who walked in on us a couple of nights later while we were having sex, which i wasn't so happy about. not that i was, you know, UNhappy about it.
im not saying you're like that guy, but a good rule of thumb for traveling is 'if its a bitch to take then leave it at home'. and you're gonna cry if it gets damaged or stolen on one of those stinky ass buses, no?

Unforrtunately I don't think all buses are the same, but there wouldn't be room in the last bus that I took.

Whoah, wait a minute, this hotel manager used to just randomly wander into your room unannounced at inopportune moments?
(also if boyfriend was dead-eyed uncommunicative knob-end, why were you still having sex with him?)
