Have you ever heard that thing about feeding alka-seltzer to seagulls so that they blow up? Is that really true? I presume they just split on the inside, rather than Commandos-style fireballs?

According to The Straight Dope, the jury is still out on this one. (link is mainly about dehydrated rice that will expand in birds' stomachs, but it also mentions alka-seltzer and popcorn)

Why playgrounds?? Must there be a paedotronic element to every news story?? I do like the idea of dive-bombing kamikaze Hamas seagulls though...

Snopes seems to think the rice thing is a myth. And they quote an ornithologist.
