I think we've reached the goofy endgame here.

"I have been beaten on every place of my body, and the signs are all over my body," he told the court.

He just wants to parade around in his BVDs some more.

saddam says to his american jailers: "i need a tape recorder to write my memoirs"

the jailers send him a pen and paper.

saddam promptly sends it back: "i need a tape recorder, not paper + pencil"

the jailers shrug, and send saddam a typewriter.

saddam sends the typewriter back: "i need a tape recorder!! to write my memoirs!! not paper + pencil, not a typewriter - a tape recorder!!"

the jailers are getting a little frustrated. they splurge and buy him a laptop computer.

he sends it back w/ a handwritten note: "NO! YOU FOOLS! I NEED A TAPE RECORDER!!!!"

the general in charge of the jail storms down to his cell w/ tape recorder, and says "dammit, saddam, you've got a lot of nerve!!! what the hell was wrong w/ all the stuff we sent you?!?!"

saddam says, "i am saddam hussein!!! i am a DICTATOR!!!!"

I liked hearing some of the demands he and his co-defendents were making. I cant remember the specifics, but they were basically saying that they were being mistreated and abused by not having tobacco to smoke, tea to drink, or television to watch.

Would it presumptious of me to assume Saddam is not only getting treated better than most people in prison due to petty drug possession crimes, but also pretty much any ground soldier stationed in Iraq, or moreso any peace-seeking Iraqi left on his/her own because of this mess?
