mark s, Friday, 11 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I think you could probably count on Katie....

Pete, Friday, 11 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

ps i will be taking noteZoR: ph34r me etc

(not on you you mentalist on the film)

mark s, Friday, 11 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

If I come we can compare notes. I love making notes in the cinema, just to read my terrible scrawl afterwards. Biros with lights attached = no-no.

Pete, Friday, 11 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I would not actually mind going again, and I believe Lixi is quite up for seeing it also mmmm yes.

Sarah, Friday, 11 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'd be up for seeing it again.

RickyT, Friday, 11 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i ph3ar you all

Alan Trewartha, Friday, 11 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

WHO LET THE ORCS OUT!!

mark s, Friday, 11 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm not sure I could handle the monsters.

Tom, Friday, 11 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I ought to see it and I could make it my one film of the year.

chris, Friday, 11 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

garh i am seeing it on THursday in ILFORD with 2 fellow fans from my work... probably about 6.30 if anyone can make it (though seeing as it's ILFORD = the arse end of the arse end of nowhere) i'm not holding out much hope...

katie, Friday, 11 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

poot can't do thur (despite claim at start of thred) since = buffyday and dRvDr is round for double-helping as cd not make last night after all

let alone in the land of ilford where the shadows lie

mark s, Friday, 11 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Note similarity twixt Ill-Foorrrrrd and Morr-Doorrrrr.

Pete, Friday, 11 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

speak not that evil language on ile!!

mark s, Friday, 11 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

which means the building where i work = Orthanc, now i do have the ph34r!

katie, Friday, 11 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

orthanc is in isengard = dagenham surely?

mark s, Friday, 11 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Meanwhile, over here in the Eternal West, I take note of what you creatures in Middle-earth are doing with bemusement. And wishing I could be there for such a thing, of course.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 11 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

would anyone be more up for it if it were in Stratford (= the Gondor of East London)

katie, Friday, 11 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

the picture house Stratford, site of my last cinematic experience and only 10 minutes on the bus from my house? why of course!

chris, Friday, 11 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

RIGHT i shall check times. keep 'em peeled (and watch out for Orcs)...

katie, Friday, 11 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'd SO fancy my chances in Morrdorr (sp? in the film it reminded me of Taggart whenever it was mentioned) over Ilford. Ilford gives me the howling fantods.

Will, Friday, 11 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

hmm Stratford is showing it i believe at 4.15 and 7.45pm. could be a prob for those of us who don't live anywhere near it... Ilford (Gants Hill) is a slightly more civilised 6.15ish i think.

oh come on Will, remember when we saw INdependence Day in Ilford armed with buckets of Rum and Pepsi??

katie, Friday, 11 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Too far away for me! *ducks out*

Sarah, Friday, 11 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

how do I get to Gant''s Hill? oooh, central line? I can come straight from work from the opposite end of the line. It'll beat my previous longest central line journey of Greenford to Snaresbrook.

chris, Friday, 11 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

is this still thursday? no good for me wherever

mark s, Friday, 11 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Gant's Hill? Gant's Hill? You're all mad!

Katie - Independence Day - rum - heh heh heh.

Will, Friday, 11 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

looks like it's gonna be Gants Hill i'm afraid, as i won't get home otherwise! anyone who might be interested mail me and i promise i'll read my mail!! time = about 6.15 i think. sorry MarkS - but another time praps?

BTW have just read that when the DVD comes out it will have about 30 mins extra character-development footage in it I CAN'T WAIT!! oh hang on i need a DVD playa first...

katie, Friday, 11 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I AM SURROUNDED BY MENTALISTS.

DG, Friday, 11 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

story of my life = setting up a great date for EVERYONE EXCEPT ME!!

mark s, Friday, 11 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

awwwwww MarkS! i am sure that RickyT, Sarah and Lixi will collaborate with you on an LotR visit!! and i'd hardly call Ilford a great date...

katie, Friday, 11 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

a) going to Gant's Hill
b) to see Lord of the Rings
c) again
=====================
MENTALISTS

Alan Trewartha, Friday, 11 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I've never been to Gant's hill, is it that bad?

Katie, I'm off home now and have closed down my e-mail but I'm still up for it, especially as I reckon I can get home in half an hour from there.

chris, Friday, 11 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Gant's Hill is...alright - but but but you must go to Serene's along Woodford Avenue, they do the finest kebabs in the world.

DG, Friday, 11 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Serene's is the one blip of hope in an otherwise dreary wasteland... that and... no, it is the only blip.

Will, Friday, 11 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

looks like monday even = snuffed also now

new answers for the remaining lundun massive tue-wed?

mark s, Saturday, 12 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

(ahem)

mark s, Sunday, 13 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

not so cool NOW mark huh?

Ronan, Sunday, 13 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Heavy is the head etc.

Tracer Hand, Sunday, 13 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

fao the extant massive (or am i reading yu loud and clear already blub blub?)

mark s, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I want to come. when is it again?

alix, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

How about Tuesday evening? Is Brixton Ritzy good for you, Mark? I fancy seeing it again!

Sarah, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

What about my dad?

alix, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm up for Tuesday at the Ritzy.

RickyT, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Your dad is coming tonight, isn't he? Will he still be about Tuesday eve, is that what you're getting at? Tues - or Wednesday actually (if that evening is unoccupied, Lixi?) are both fine by me.

Sarah, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

tuesday ritzy ist k3wl: wot are the times? (blimey i haven't been to the ritzy since LA HAINE, on which i believe LoTR is based)

mark s, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

ha, ha. Gun = the ring, sort of thing. When I saw la Haine (on vid) i noticed at one point that they use a codename (for a drug dealer) of asterix, but in the sub-titling they translated it as "mickey mouse". a radical translation, non?

Alan Trewartha, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The only viewing which I could make is the 8.15 one, how's that? Do you think we'd need to book or TBH it's been out long enough for us just to turn up? (NB am saying this as credit card is in the foul financial doldrums for now and do not know if they take THE GOD of SOLO RAAAAAH). Tickets are 6.50 but concessions = 3.50 which I think is not fair. Student ID = U&K.

Sarah, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

My heart says it would be nice to come but my eyes and bladder blanch at the the prospect of sitting through LOTR again.

If anyone fancies forming a splinter group to (a) meet with the LOTR crusties and (b) go to see Last Orders (9.15 showing - extra hour in PUB hurrah!), then I'd be up for that.

Suggest Trinity Arms at Brixton's nearby Trinity Sq, btw, although I'm all ears as regards other pleasant pubs in the area.

Tim, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

For once, being a student pays off...I can do tuesday, I've decided. Ian will prollaby have left by then. I will be celebrating the end of coursework. Oh my god. So many words left to type.

alix, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

There are no other pleasant pubs.

alix, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

8.15 fine as work finishes at 5 (maybe 6 if i do everything i-n s-l-o-w m-o-t-i-o-n): so yes and yes too to meet-up at pub beforehand = v.civilised yet yoof-ful also hurrah...

mark s, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

ooh so since i am seeing it on thursday as well DO I COME ALONG TOMORROW AS WELL?? have decided that if i do i might as well wear some bloody pointy ears or something, i would be such a geek. and my boyfwiend would take the piss... hmm. but i want to natter about the film some more OH advice please!

katie, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I would be up for Last Orders splinter group allowing pub natter then film about pub (though obvious Brixton is not superhandy for me, it is doable). Let men know.

Pete, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm not sure I know any men who would be interested in that way, Pete. But two is critical mass for a splinter group anyway (i.e. it doesn't leave me sitting in the Trinity on my own for an hour waiting for LO to start).

May I humbly suggest people aim for the Trinity at seven or half past or thereabouts?

Tim, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

oh crikey, I kinda want to see last orders more than I want to see LOTR plus Brixton is on the wholesome victoria line straight to the Stow. What time will last orders finish?

chris, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

11:20, when your statutory drinking time is up.

Pete, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I will certainly be in the Trinity by 7. For those not sure where it is, it's on Trini ty Gardens (hope that URL works, ITS A MONSTER) SW9. Cross the road coming out of Brixton tube, go left, then right up Brighton Terrace, and right at the little square and you'll see the boozer there.

Sarah, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

that was the obligatory joke pete, well done. OK, when does the showing of the film "last orders" finish at the Ritzy, if it starts at 9.15?

chris, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Chris it's OK, go to see LAst Orders on Tuesday and come and see LotR in Gants Hill on Thurs! it's dead easy to get back to Walthamstow, just go back to Stratford and get yr bus!

katie, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I can't work out whether Pete was being sarky or helpful, because he is actually more or less OTM (screening scheduled for 9.15, 110 minute film + ads etc = something like 11.20pm). I think you should come, Cabbage. Although getting back to Stow on the Wold sounds difficult.

Tim, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Sounds like I can do both then. ace, one film all year last year and now two in a week, I doubt my brain will handle it but yup, it's a deal, last orders tomorrow, Orken horde on Thursday. and if the film finishes at 11.20 I'll have no problem getting the tube back to Walthamstow, unfortunately not at all like Stow on the wold.

chris, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I was actually working it out using brane plus being funny like what I always am.

Pete, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Unfortunately for your joke, Pete, last orders in the pub ends at 11, at the *start* of the statutory drinking-up time.

Unfortunately for my poor excuse for a brain, I didn't spot this first time round.

Tim, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

me neither, I'll hang my head for a while. See you all in the Trinity tomorrow evening then?

chris, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

CHrist, and I'm a publican too...(look at my beak).

Pete, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

You'd get a lot of fish in that.

Tim, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Sorry, that was a pelican I was thinking of.

Pete, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

It's not surprising Pete the Publican doesn't know what time last orders is in the real world since in his 'pub' it's at 8:00 or some equally ridiculous hour.

Emma, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Is the Trinity the one across the road (aka Drug Alley) from the Ritzy? Or is that the Prince of Wales? Where is the Trinity in that case? I would be up for Last Orders but may form a splinter group of one at last minute to stay in pub and drink until ackshual LAST ORDERS GENTS time.

Sam, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I gave directions just above. HRMPH proof that Sam does not read any of my posts GAH CHIZ! And no, it is not on Coldharbour Lane which in your phrase must be the biggest alley EVAH :)

Sarah, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Sorry, I didn't see it owing to wiping away tears of laughter at Ptee's joke. The Ritzy's on a corner - the alley in question isn't Coldharbour Lane, it's the other one lined with scary drug dealers (always my first stop when showing South African friends round London Town in order to gauge levels of White Fear.)

Sam, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

That could be any number of alleys in Brixton. Maybe the one that goes off from Coldharbour and joins Atlantic road? Or Electric Avenue? Or somewhere so dodgy I've never been there?

alix, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

*sniff* *wipes away tears* (he likes me, he reeeeeeally likes me!)

Sarah, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

11? We Irish may be filthy. But 11? HA.

Ronan, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Nu answers for people who are coming just to double check like.

Pete, Tuesday, 15 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I cannot believe people would rather watch a bunch of doddery old gits staggering round (either in the pub or in the film) than stay in watching Fat Club and Footballers Wives.

Emma, Tuesday, 15 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I just don't understand the appeal of LOTR. Elves and shit don't grab me.

DG, Tuesday, 15 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

b-but i am working with noteZoR-book and all

mark s, Tuesday, 15 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

yup, last orders (the film) for me and a few drinks first in the Trinity. What time are people getting there? Cos I can leave work when the hell I want at the moment, it feels like this is going to be a long 3 months.

chris, Tuesday, 15 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I can't believe anyone would miss Fat Club for ANYTHING. Ok admittedly I have exams tomorrow so I can't go out anyway but still........

Ronan, Tuesday, 15 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ah but they repeat Fat Club. Anyway Ronan - what was the first rule about Fat Club again?

Pete, Tuesday, 15 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I think I know what you're trying to do but if you look it was "talk about fatclub".

Ronan, Tuesday, 15 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Sunday night = beauty sleep night to prepare for arduous week of secretarying NOT night for wallowing in schadenfreude (sp?) at blubbering fat folk attempting to lose weight. It is repeated at 11:30 which is well past my bedtime.

Fat Club makes GMTV's Inch Loss Island look like a picnic even if this morning they did make them walk over hot coals.

Emma, Tuesday, 15 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

It is 17.30 and I am sick of work. What's the plan?

Sam, Tuesday, 15 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)
