So who's home for the holidays? I'm home until 10 January and need to see G--ff C-nn-n, Dan P, Matos and anyone else who can bend their elbows. Hello Twin Cities from the Chicago thread. We're all going to be heading your way, one way or another, in 2006 - one of us moving there, one of us in a band playing the 400 in late January, one of us (me) from there and trying to point the others in the right direction. I miss Pizza Luce, I miss getting to play new songs at Balls at the Southern at midnight on saturday nights for a crowd of misfits, I miss walking around Lake Calhoun late at night while listening to Loveline on headphones, directing plays at beautiful spaces like the Loring Playhouse, the list goes on. See you next year.

Gah. John, everyone who works at the Dragon knows Chris K so it won't be a problem - ask to be taken over to where she is sitting. Also we invited some Walker curators/designers from last night's NYE party who I hope will come.

Meanwhile, here is what's happening in glam St Louis Park: after what was a BLINDING Vikings game everyone went to Bunny's including the TC media because they had the first news of Mr. Tice's sacking. Mike was supposed to drink with his friends there and called the bar from his cell (he'd gotten as close as the gas station next door) to find out if there was media and as all channels were there by then, he scarpered home. Which sucks; he's been extremely kind to my family. My mom is really drunk and cross right now. But she is a very funny drunk.

I was at the best new bands deal at first ave last night...doo wop was on last, but i got too tired to stick around...boy, chooglin' and birthday suits were fucking rock though! sweet!

i've heard very mixed reactions from people on g-damn doo wop....i'm curious to see them soon.

They're fantastic...the people who I've known that haven't liked them often don't realize that they're doing all original material, or saw them at the Hexagon (Dear Mr. Soundfella...when you have 3 front female vocals, it would be a good idea to put them into the front mix.)

bands with "non-traditional" lineups tend to suffer at the hexagon and big vs...i just saw gay beast at the entry after having only seen them at the hex before, it was way better...keyboards and other (non loud guitar) stuff never comes thru on those lil' PAs.

Any recommendations for the rest of the weekend? I'd like to eat at Galactic Pizza but otherwise don't have other ideas. It's been about 10 years since I was last in the Twin Cities. Although it looks like there will be plenty of people (friends, old co-workers) to shepherd me around -- so I may just let them guide me.

Hello Twin Cities ILXors, I enjoyed your city quite a bit. Show at the 400 Bar went very well, and Galactic Pizza was eaten yesterday for lunch. Last night I had a few beers with friends at Kieran's downtown (where the Tim Malloys (?) were playing), and then we made our way to the Otter for karaoke, where I got unbelievably wasted but didn't realize it until I was back in my hotel.
