Stuff to do in Richmond/Williamsburg/Virginia Beach/Norfolk/Hampton/Et All

So I am going on a little trip to VA to meet my gf's family and stuff and I know absolutely nothing about the area other than historic Williamsburg (which I've already seen.) Anyone got any suggestions of must do or just general fun stuff in the general area (any great record store recommendations are always appreciated even if I doubt I will have as much time to trawl them as I would like.)

Pudding eating/corn eating/carbonated milk drinking festivals with Spink's old posse.

Who is Spink?

Well, if you're a fan of Patricia Cornwell you can hunt around Richmond for corpses.

In Norfolk you can drive back and forth through the tunnels under Chesapeake Bay.

And if naval installations are your thing, then head on up to Newport News and see your tax dollars at work.

There's a Richmond thread somewhere where I recommended a bunch of Richmondy stuff. Colonial Williamsburg is good for family-friendly activities but not really for "fun." There's Busch Gardens. Didn't spend much time in VA Beach or Norfolk but am guessing they're pretty dead in cold weather.

Here is the Richmond thread for future reference for myself.

Going to Richmond, VA - What to do there?

I don't think there are any GREAT RECORD STORES in this area at all except for the obvious one (Plan 9 in Carytown, Richmond).

you can go to busch gardens and ride that roller coaster that fabio was on when a bird flew into his face and splattered all over his nose.

It's probably gonna be a bit cold for Busch Gardens.

Its closed in the winter anyway, but the brewery tour should be open, free samples!

Paul's Deli near William and Mary for good pizza/greek food/beer.

The Poe House was pretty neat IIRC. Also really liked Julep's and Coppola's fried cheese sandwich thing is amazing. I really liked Richmond. Virginia Beach/Norfolk/Hampton not quite so much.

Coppola's fried cheese sandwich

god I was just reminiscing about this sandwich last week, so good

my friends have a new restaurant called Sprout in Richmond that's all locally sourced foods. I haven't been there but it sounds pretty cool.

Thanks for the recommendations, Richmond sounds pretty cool. I'll try to get out there for a day trip (it's about 2 hours from where I'm staying). I really wish I had brought my bike with me, looks like there are a lot of good trails around here.
