... for a dude like me who can't hold a note.

A birthday gift was a day in a Studio, with a producer and other assorted technical music peeps.

I have the vocal range of a TROUT. Seriously, i can't sing for toffee! but i have exactly one month to practise.

What would you sing if you had one chance, one opportunity etc?
The studio has a selection of "30,000 tracks", suggest me some singing songs! please!

otm. you don't even have to know the words! like "Safe European Home," just go "Welw, jugga bada dosey okey doe yeah! Heeeeeey, shhbop!" That would sound very good sung by a trout.

Any singers you like to sing along with because you have roughly the same range/pitch?

I do feel guilty for getting any perverse amusement out of it (Rock Hardy), Friday, 23 December 2005 02:39 (twenty years ago)

Is there a way i could discover my vocal range/pitch? do i need to find a musician and sing at their face until they suggest an artist for me to mimic

Okay, I know that Eddie Vedder is all Gruffy McGruffkins but that does not automatically make Pearl Jam songs easy to sing!

I believe Neil Diamond songs are good for this purpose since they are quite limited in range and difficult to get wrong (I've read this somewhere before, and it seems to be true).

Alternatively, me and the mister discovered the other day that Fairytale of New York is almost impossible to get wrong, if you are doing the Shane McGowan part, as you can get away with mumbling and growling and being out of tune and them claim you are performing in character.
