i'm sorry but hockey fights cant really compare to the nastyness that sometimes occur on football pitches. in hockey the fights are allowed and everyone knows what's up. when, as you see on those clips, footballers step over the line it's so much meaner and sneakier and thus more "fun".

What I don't understand about hockey is why the referees just seem to let it go on for as long as they do. Is it just that they enjoy it, and they know the fans enjoy it too?
