If you buy Nick Black's new album: (nb I have no idea who nick black is or what his album sounds like)

http://www.nickblack.net/music.html

Click on the "buy" link at the bottom of the page.

Alt, banner advert from (cough) another site. (nsfw)

These things go for big money on ebay, I'm guessing? Cynically tempted to buy a CD as a lottery ticket w/slightly better than average odds, and a bit more faff to go though before you get yer $$

Probably not though.

WTF

I think this promotion might be sending the wrong message about what it means to be a part of this band's fanbase.

As a sure-fire way to push yer (I presume obscure) indie album's sales up way past the 10,000 mark, it's got to be a winner, though. As a way to win new converts to your band's music, perhaps it's less of a sure thing?

Seeing as the draw prize could be seen as an avatar of sexual futurity, I think it's a shame Momus didn't think of this first, rather than what looks to be an indie/americana type band (nb that the promo has worked w/me on one level - as soon as I'm back on broadband I'm curious to check out the band's mp3s) he could have called the promotion "silicone stars forever" and had the prize made in the likeness of...what, exactly? Actually, I'm not sure I like the way these thoughts are going.

Likeness of Wendy Carlos, of course!
