Weird Ipod question (I need help)

Before you say anything, I've searched all over Apple's website and haven't found anything.

I just got a new Ipod, today, for Christmas, but when I plug it in it says that I've used 98.88 GB of space and have 18 MB free (plus a little "lock" symbol next to this. Obviously this isn't possible, considering it's a 60 GB ipod, and also that it's brand new. Still, it won't let me add any songs to it since it's "full". Anyone had this happen to them or know how to fix it?

EXCHANGE IT; if it's doing weird shit when it's brand new, it's only going to get wackier.

And I mean exchange it for another (working) iPod, not something else.

Try reformatting it and see what happens (if you haven't already).
