A place to vent robustly about critics who aim you in the direction of silly/awful/only-play-two-weeks-in-NY/LA/London films resulting in you blowing cash on ______________ [fill in adjective expressing miffedness.]

I was reading a review of the Family Stone that focussed on the (honest to god) tile pattern in the kitchen and its "Norman Rockwell Charm." Damned if I know why this irked me so, but it did.

the way the thread title is phrased, i thought this would be about stuff like ebert's review of the brown bunny (or my personal favorite, his north review)

Family Stone would probably do in a pinch if you're in a situation where you need to negociate your companions out of seeing Cheaper By the Dozen 2 or Yours, Mine & Ours but couldn't possibly get them into something even so esoteric as Brokeback or whatever. At the very least there's a dinner-table conversation scene that morphs into an elongated pro-gay marriage/adoption screed.

my new year's resolution is to never post on film critic threads again ever

J.D. (Justyn Dillingham), Sunday, 25 December 2005 23:35 (twenty years ago)

inger lynde (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 25 December 2005 23:38 (twenty years ago)
