it can't be that hard right? i mean you can even invent your own record! i seem to recall that someone on uk BIG BROTHER broke one when the whole house was set the task. something to do with eating beans off a toothpick.

has anyone broken or set a record? or know anyone who has, or has tried?

Largest portion of life wasted on a message board?

In making up your own record to set, it must have the critical OMGWTF factor in order for the Guiness people to recognize it. Just submitting Most Continuous Hours of Folding Laundry won't cut it, I expect.

> something to do with eating beans off a toothpick.

wasn't it tallest sugar cube tower?

oh, both (although it was sweetcorn rather than beans):

Whilst flicking through TV this afternoon I came across some rubbish show that was about to set the world record for number of heads shaved in a minute. We had two competitors trying to out-do each other - a guy who was billed as "the fastest barber in the world", and a sheep-shearer. "And we're bound to get a world record," says the rather over-anxious host, "because no-one has tried to do this world record before." And I felt cheated.

Yeh, it has to be something impressive and, preferably, useless cf beard of bees.

six years pass...

I was *obsessed* with my Guinness Book of World Records. I had a 1983, 1986 and 1988 edition.

My favorites:
The Omnivore guy! - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michel_Lotito
World's tallest man, Robert Wadlow: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Wadlow
World's Longest Hair: lady standing on a balcony thingy in her house with her hair touching the floor (!) - can't find her online, I hope I didn't imagine her
The world's largest yorkshire pudding, lol - mainly because I had no idea what a yorkshire pudding was.

Was anyone else obsessed with these? I thought half the people in the ediitons I had were like, full-on celebrities.
