Character Actor Vincent Schiavelli Dies

ROME -
Vincent Schiavelli, the droopy-eyed character actor who appeared in scores of movies, including "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" and "Ghost," died Monday at his home in Sicily. He was 57.

He died of lung cancer, said Salvatore Glorioso, mayor of Polizzi Generosa, the Sicilian village where Schiavelli resided.

Schiavelli, whose gloomy look made him perfect to play creepy or eccentric characters, made appearances in some 150 film and television productions, according to the Internet Movie Database...

I always got a kick out of spotting him in movies. I think "Lord of Illusions" was the only flick where I predicted he'd show up...

Isn't he (eh, wasn't he) married to the woman who played the receptionist in the show with Bruce Willis Cybill Shepherd called "Moonlighting"?

Wiggy (Wiggy), Monday, 26 December 2005 20:42 (twenty years ago)

I will always remember him for his role in "Better Off Dead" as the teacher who awkwardly asks John Cusack if he'd mind if he took out Cusack's ex-girlfriend. He was also great in "The People vs. Larry Flynt." RIP.

pretty sad... I've something to say about the new weights of deaths and the communicative speed of the modern age but feel here is not the place

RIP

Absolutely the best five minutes in Tomorrow Never Dies. R.I.P.

They played up his strange looks in the movies but I saw him walking down the street outside NYU once and he cut quite a dapper figure.

Yeah, Buckaroo Banzai as imaged above, also Heat Vision and Jack- pretty much anything he did.

And all this time, I was thinking that the Houston Rockets, with good coaching, would be able to get it done this year. What a shame. R.I.P.
