Tony Robinson: Twat (to rhyme with cat) or Twunt?

Invoking ILE Rule 2.5 - if someone gets mentioned three times on ILE in seperate threads they get their own thread. So the little arse one who was very dirty in Blackadder, ridiculously poor at writing in Maid Marian and her Merrie Men (currently being repeated on BBC1), head of the actors Union Equity, Labour NEC member and now Kate's fantasy Time Team squeeze - is he comedy god or Labour's answer to Giles Brandreth.

Which three threads?

Also Rule 2.5.1 - it doesn't count if Kate gets a bee in her bonnet about something surely 'cause it'll just crop up on every thread anyway. This may seem unfair but the rule is already being honoured in practise i.e. we don't have a "Fringes: Classic Or Dud" or "Dronerock Boys: Shag And Destroy" yet.

Hey... I think I OBJECT!!!

I am by no means the worst offender at dragging my pet obsessions onto other threads... e.g. Nicole and Ally- whose inability to keep on topic on ILM was the whole reason we HAVE this board in the first place!

I am being unfairly targetted and I take offense.

And for the record, it WASN'T me who brought up Tony Robinson on multiple threads.

And screw you all, because I am BARONESS OF CHESTER!!!

He was quite funny as Baldrick. I always view him as slighty less annoying than Rowan Atkinson. He seems quite passionate about the things he's involved in. Harmless enough.

Okay the three threads are the Talking Over TV one (which got on to Time Team), the Rolf Harris one (which went via Robinson's cartoon time) and the kids TV one which I cannot find now but we definately discussed the rasta on Maid Marian and her Fucking Merry Men.

Heh heh. Baroness of Chest-hair.

And for the record, my favourite member of the Time Team isn't even Tony Robinson. It's Phil, for his West Country charrrrrrrm. Though Mick's stripey jumpers come pretty close.

masonic boom, Tuesday, 17 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Robinson - arse of the highest order, smug, pompous, greasy archaelogical whore.

now, where was that anger thread?

cabbage, Tuesday, 17 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

I don't like Tony Robinson but I don't hate him that much. I just think he should stay away from my telly.

Jonnie, Tuesday, 17 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

You are all so wrong. What is fun is to watch back through old seasons of Time Team to see the "Many Changing Hairstyles Of Tony Robinson". For a while, he had one of the worst combovers I'd ever seen. Considering that it was long in the back, as well. Then for a while, he did the ill-advised Eminem bleach job thing. Which is just plain silly. But he's still brilliant because no one else can quite get just SO worked up about a trench full of dirrrrrrt.

masonic boom, Tuesday, 17 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Tony Robinson is lovely.

chris, Tuesday, 17 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

OK, Chris, I will now forgive you for slagging of dirty dronerock boys on that other thread, because you agree with me about Tony Robinson's and Time Team's brilliance.

masonic boom, Tuesday, 17 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

My housemate as of next week is an archaeologist and is Phil sent from the past on some secret mission (possibly to drive busses in sheffield cos he can't find a job in archaeology at the moment)

Ed, Tuesday, 17 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

That wasn't appeasement, goddamnit. Time to put some thought into compositional debunking...

chris, Tuesday, 17 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Once again i am flummoxed by you limeys .
( how offensice is that word ?)
Can i use it cutely w/o offending , if not use brits instead.

anthony, Tuesday, 17 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Have googled up a bio for you here. Haven't read it but it'll probably be very sicophantic as it was written by the beeb.

Ed, Tuesday, 17 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Tony Robinson kille the artful dodger.

Ed, Tuesday, 17 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Tony Robinson killed the artful dodger.

Ed, Tuesday, 17 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Limeys = not at all offensive really.

Did Tony Robinson kill the Artful D from Dickens or the UKG ones who have split up (boo hoo)?

Emma, Tuesday, 17 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

According to that bio Tony robinson got his break when the artful dodger in a production of Oliver 'Bunked Off', had him bumped off more like.

Ed, Tuesday, 17 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

isnt tony robinson that awful mother fucker with the scary teeth who sells motivational tapes on 3am infomercials?

Geoff, Tuesday, 17 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Tony *Robbins*. ;-)

I only know him from Blackadder, and of course there he is a god.

"I have a *cunning* plan, sir..."

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 17 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

I think this would be a much more interesting thread if it were about the motivational speaker Tony Robbins - Think and Grow Rich. I remember this great picture of him standing next to Bill Clinton, I just thought that perfectly summed up America in the 1990's!

tOM p, Tuesday, 17 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

For a multiplicity of reasons, Tony Robinson is a godhead.

Robin Carmody, Tuesday, 17 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

I know what the dictionary says, but isn't "godhead" also a term for "hymen"? Or am I making that up?

Dan Perry, Tuesday, 17 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

What's wrong with Tony? Seems a pleasant enough chap to me, decent comedy actor....and he makes archeology fun!

Ally C, Tuesday, 17 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Dan, you are surely thinking of maidenhead. Godhead is when you get sucked off by Zeus.

Tom, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Tony's great. Take away the Tony factor from Time Team and it wouldn't be half as watchable. Who would you prefer, Jamie Theakston?

'Who Dares Wins' (80s late-night comedy show) was kool as well. He appeared naked on it. Which wasn't kool, really.

D*A*V*I*D*M, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Making Jamie Theakston the presenter of Time Team is just about the only way you could get me to STOP watching it. Ugh!

masonic boom, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link
