Our friend bought one for his little boy and never having played with one before I had a shot.

"Okay," said the kid, "Don't hold the trigger right in or the car will come flying off, just try to find the right speed and that's it."

"That's it?" said I.

"Yeah. That's it."

FOOKING CLASSIC. though these new-fangled ones with the magnets on the bottom, youngsters these days are getting an easy ride with that sort of driving aid bullshit.

Sigh, I had a huge box of this growing up. Real retro and whatever. Bought the equipment to clean it up but never did. Gave it to cousin who had kids so now it's gone from me forever. Hope they like it, all it needed was a going over with a metal brush and some straightening.

CLASSIC whenever I've played it. I'm so bad at it though, I'll just keep the button down and stress out. Vicarious death wish to have a James Dean type legend.

Magnets? Fucks sake, that's too easy. The youth of nowadays *grumble grumble*

Undoubted classic. As for magnets, I prefer the shiny track pieces which makes it harder to control. I might get my old set down from the loft whilst I'm off work.

We won one last year (it was second prize in a competition we entered to win a real car) and it's lain unopened on top of our wardrobe ever since. The childish nostalgia that makes me go "woah, Scalextric" has never actually translated into the idea of actually playing with it, since it's, you know, total crap.

Two consecutive Christmasses of advertising it in Tesco still haven't got rid of it, which leads me to think that I'm right, and it is crap. If anyone wants it, btw, make me an offer, seriously. It's this one.

I had this as a kid along with Race And Chase. Loved it.

I did temp manual work at the company that makes that stuff (for about a month), taking faulty cars out of boxes and putting new ones in. It was *almost* as fun as actually playing with the stuff.
