we're going out to the cinema tonight, and these 2 seem like the best choice. Pro K.K. - the trailer looks thrilling, prob vv entertaining. Con - 3 1/2hrs long!! also, I got dvd of "fellowship of the ring" & the dialogue was terrible. Pro "LW&W" - I dunno, really. Con "LW&W" - dunno either. The trailer looked OK I guess. Alt suggestions welcome.

We had the same decision to make on Christmas Eve - we based our decision on the amount of kids going into Kong which was about to start when we arrived.

Narnia won, but by the time the movie started the place was like a creche with about a million hyped up kids running all over the theatre.

I hate the movies. Just wait for the dvd :~)

I saw Kong the other night, and it is long (the original was 80 minutes)... but I found it a pretty entertaining blockbuster. I'd badmouthed CGI for years but this might be the first movie where it's not a complete distraction. The ape is pretty amazing actually, and while they did try to graft a love interest onto the film, it's pretty clearly about an ape's love of hot blondes.

Have any critics raised the racist flag on Kong? Not that I felt it was, but I certainly could see where folks could have problems with the evil voodoo island natives.

I'm going to see Narnia with my mum tomorrow night, since she started me reading on the series, first by reading to me, and then by having me read to her. I am a good son.

Narnia is bad. Kong is good.
Hence, Kong.

I saw Kong yesterday, and it was definitely better than Narnia. It didn't feel too long because there were so many great scenes - though they could've probably cut the fight against the giant bugs, that was a bit too much. Anyway, it's basically a love story between Kong and Naomi Watts, the scene where they meet again in new York almost got me to tears. And yeah, Kong is probably the best, most credible CGI creature ever seen on the big screen.

When I got home last night, Jill wasn't really in the mood to go out, so we watched "taxi 2" and "leon" on dvd instead. We might go out tonight instead. I sort of doubt it, though.

I'd go to Narnia.

King Kong is okay, it's too bloody long, 50% video game and looking down naomi's dress imho.

that sounds like a recommendation for kong to me

I was gonna bracket (and that's a good thing) next to my naomi comment, but I thought better of it.

Narnia is dull and watching kids overact for 2 hrs+ gets pretty wearing. So, Kong (though I haven't seen it).

No one overacts in Narnia; the girl who played Lucy was fantastic.

I've only seen Narnia. Didn't enjoy it as much as I thought but was still good. (the former might have been due to the loud impatient sighs coming from boyfriend sitting next to me.)
