That's enough Tarkus for now, I think.

Having now heard the record, it is a total let down in comparison to the strange and wonderous sleeve art.

As I've somewhat boringly gone on about before, you should listen to ars nova. They sound like "Tarkus" as played by a deranged s&m -obsessed ROBOT OVERLORD. Ars Nova album pick = "Transi"

Part of one of my old reviews for the album: :)

"I mean, C'MON man! There's this...armadillo thing. That's also a tank. And this thing, it fights with these other cool monsters. And kills ALL of 'em, dude. But then finally one of the cool monsters slices its eye and blood gushes out and everything! You're not even paying attention, are you? Good God, man, read the lyrics!!! "Will you *know* how the seed is sown?!" "Are you *deaf* when you hear the seasons call?!" The ONLY Way parenthesis HYMN parenthesis. INFINITE SPACE parenthesis CONCLUSION parenthesis. Deep..."

I don't want to spoil it for you, but it's all about Jeremy Bender.

I'm listening to this right now, and in spite of the fact that I'm a pretty big prog fan, this is just not my kind of thing. Conceptually, an album/song about an armadillo tank monster is pretty cool I guess. Yes does musical battles much better, i.e. "Gates Of Delerium" from Relayer. I've always thought Greg Lake was a big fat dink.

I think I bought it in a fit of nostalgia for old-ilx or something. That and the $1 price.

I never really got ELP. I think Keith Emerson's piano theme for "Inferno" was pleasant, and their first album seems okay, but everything else I've heard just sounds completely unappealing to me, like they could easily be a parody rather than a staple of progressive music.

That jazzy part in "Karn Evil 9" is good but too short. You should put that album cover in your window, Tokyo Rosemary.

It'd be a symbol for those in the know!

"This is a Tarkus-friendly house"

Ha, I hope this antagonizes neighbors!

Name your child Tarkus and hiss at the other parents: "Oooh My Tarkus....he crush you!!!"
