I can't wait!! :D :D :D

ken c (ken c), Saturday, 31 December 2005 21:40 (twenty years ago)

hope it'll be better than 2005

jellybean (jellybean), Saturday, 31 December 2005 21:50 (twenty years ago)

Yay, I just got back from the store with a shiny bottle of Korbel, the New Near is only 6 and a half hours away!

Jena (JenaP), Saturday, 31 December 2005 22:31 (twenty years ago)

hope it'll be better than 2005

I dare the cosmos to make it worse. impossible.

I bought some bubbly red among other things and am about to open it. One year ago today was a horrible day to open a year full of them so I'm determined to drum up something different tonight. '06, bring it on.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Saturday, 31 December 2005 22:32 (twenty years ago)

I've got some Munn's in my fridge -- depending on what others want to do tonight, it'll either be drunk or kept aside for a later evening.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 31 December 2005 22:34 (twenty years ago)

I'm making a resolution to not do anything that I did in 2005 ever EVER again. New decisions, more resolve and less fecklessness on the cards for 2006 and me.

Lara (Lara), Saturday, 31 December 2005 23:09 (twenty years ago)

just another quiet night in watching tv. Channel 4 has gone from last year's top 100 films to the top 100 film quotes (sorry, 'Movie' quotes). this doesn't bode well for 2006. next year it'll be single words, the year after syllables.

a film quote of my own:
"ring out the old year, ring in the new. a ring a ding ding"
(it's all in the delivery)

koogs (koogs), Saturday, 31 December 2005 23:14 (twenty years ago)

I'm watching Most Haunted Top 50. I reluctantly quite enjoyed the BBc's Best TV moments, must watch more TV as some of it looked quite good.

Lara (Lara), Saturday, 31 December 2005 23:21 (twenty years ago)

I can't wait for this year to end. It was one of the worst years of my life. I'm going to pretend it didn't happen.

Allyzay must fight Zolton herself. (allyzay), Sunday, 1 January 2006 00:07 (twenty years ago)

I flipped on Jools's Hootenanny, based on promised Irma Thomas (my favourite female singer ever) and had to sit through lots of James Blunt, Kaiser Chiefs, K.T. Tunstall and either Difford or Tilbrook before she came on. She was kind of disappointing, predictably enough decades after her heyday.

I survived a very horrible last year, so the odds are that this one should be better. I won't say how, but the transitional few minutes were terrific at least.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 1 January 2006 00:11 (twenty years ago)

There is a distinct chance that 2006 could turn out to be a fine year for me. However, the future is always a dicey proposition, so I think I'll just let my hopes for 2006 simmer gently and see if they get tender enough to eat.

Aimless (Aimless), Sunday, 1 January 2006 00:15 (twenty years ago)

Shit will happen, whether you wills it or not. And I wish y'all nothing but good shit.

Noodle Vague (noodle vague), Sunday, 1 January 2006 00:18 (twenty years ago)

phil-two (phil-two), Sunday, 1 January 2006 00:33 (twenty years ago)

it was the best gig i have seen them play and i have seen them play at least 6 times. THREE SETS NED! and "so blind", i honestly think this was my best new years ever, and i deserve it cos 2005 was something of a bitch to me.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 1 January 2006 00:34 (twenty years ago)

Three sets! Amazing! I am most envious but am very happy you had such a splendiferous New Year's! :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 1 January 2006 00:36 (twenty years ago)

what are you doing for new years ned???

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 1 January 2006 00:39 (twenty years ago)

Couple of friends are coming over by 6ish and we're going to grab dinner at a good Mexican place nearby, then see a movie -- apparently one of our number, Greg, has a thing where he sees a movie every New Year's Eve, and I'm up for that. There would have been some sort of bigger party thing but most of my friends in the area are sick with colds!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 1 January 2006 00:41 (twenty years ago)

yay guys. lucylurex, phil two and ned are in the spirit so far. this thread isn't about reflecting on 2005 guys, there's already another thread for that. this one is about how you're looking forward to 2006 and holy hell it's been pretty good already. i feel like i'm ready for anything.

i love all of you.

ken c (ken c), Sunday, 1 January 2006 04:50 (twenty years ago)

I've got a busy first half, though there are two kinds of busy for me (recording and touring). '05 was all tour, no studio! '06 is kicking off with a trip overseas to record at the Tower of Doom! So, I am completely stoked for '06, although it's going to involve a sort of tidal shift for my daily rhythms for a while. But it's gonna kick ass, 2006! At least until the fall elections, that shit always brings out the worst in everybody

Mr Straight Toxic (ghostface), Sunday, 1 January 2006 04:54 (twenty years ago)

happy new year everyone, i wish you all a wonderful 2006!

Jena (JenaP), Sunday, 1 January 2006 05:02 (twenty years ago)

anthony easton (anthony), Sunday, 1 January 2006 07:09 (twenty years ago)

gypsy mothra (gypsy mothra), Sunday, 1 January 2006 07:10 (twenty years ago)

It's about time the Russians start keeping their promises.

Jena (JenaP), Sunday, 1 January 2006 07:25 (twenty years ago)

Jena (JenaP), Sunday, 1 January 2006 07:26 (twenty years ago)

Lars and Jagger (Ex Leon), Sunday, 1 January 2006 18:12 (twenty years ago)

A friend of mine who owns a used bookstore reports that the first sale of 2006 was Skid Row Tablature. Followed closely by Kierkegaard.

gypsy mothra (gypsy mothra), Sunday, 1 January 2006 19:36 (twenty years ago)

that. is. awesome.

maura (maura), Sunday, 1 January 2006 19:43 (twenty years ago)

2006 is starting off hot here in Tejas. 84F today. WTF?

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Sunday, 1 January 2006 19:55 (twenty years ago)

At the used bookstore I'm working at my first sale was some Oprah concoction, literary trash characterized by job description-as-title (The Dress Lodger, The Baker's Apprentice, The Bored Housewife). upon learning that the book was six bucks, the woman screeched (I am not kidding) "SIX DOLLARS for a BOOK?" No, but six dollars for an inch of Wet 'n' Wild blush is perfectly okay

Morley Timmons (Donna Brown), Sunday, 1 January 2006 21:07 (twenty years ago)

I have just done my first dumping of 2006. Relief and guilt - familiar friends.

Lara (Lara), Sunday, 1 January 2006 21:45 (twenty years ago)

Well, my girlfriend won't be living in Germany at some point in 2006 but will instead be living in this apartment in Portland. That's something to anticipate!

Clay (cws), Monday, 2 January 2006 20:52 (twenty years ago)

Actually, right now I'm anticipating a skint January :(

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 2 January 2006 21:57 (twenty years ago)
