Who's with me?

http://www.xanga.com/Morwen_Maranwe

She is. I just found this randomly clicking on links.

But seriously, I'm going on a diet after my delivery. I gained a lot of weight and I doubt my baby will weigh 50 pounds. ;-)

Nathalie (stevie nixed), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 17:01 (nineteen years ago)

!!

Jimmy Mod (I myself am lethal at 100 -110dB) (The Famous Jimmy Mod), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 17:03 (nineteen years ago)

I am, for a bit, I want to see if I can break the 10 stone barrier!

Vicky (Vicky), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 17:12 (nineteen years ago)

I'm kind of missing the usual January detox!! My weight seems to be piling on at a scary rate, apparently it should be a pound a week.

Panther Pink (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 17:15 (nineteen years ago)

I am trying to lose the 5 pounds I have put on since Thanksgiving so I can get back to my goal weight.

tokyo nursery school: afternoon session (rosemary), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 17:17 (nineteen years ago)

My target = twelve stone. I've said that before. Only 11.5 pounds, then.

I am so fucking hungry.

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 17:23 (nineteen years ago)

I was so tired today that I just couldn't even think about it. I think today requires double the calories of a normal day just to stop me falling asleep at my desk.

More cheese, I think, and the diet starts tomorrow.

Mark, find something low fat to snack on.

Anna (Anna), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 17:25 (nineteen years ago)

Why is there no support thread for people have decided to be done with body fascism and never diet again? Sigh.

The Lidl Shop Of Horrors (kate), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 17:27 (nineteen years ago)

Start one! Be pro-active, it's January.

Anna (Anna), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 17:28 (nineteen years ago)

I can't start tomorrow, though - I have made a pact with an ILXor who will remain nameless until he/she chooses to reveal him/herself, and he/she was very particular about starting today. It's a kind of race, you see. Maybe other ILXors should pair up dietetically to give themselves more motivation...

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 17:28 (nineteen years ago)

I'm down... this is going to be a long, long, long journey. Like, all in all, a four and a half stone journey. Top tip: stop learning fashion tricks to hide your chins, because they you don't realise how fat you've actually become.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 17:31 (nineteen years ago)

We're sorting of dieting. Tired of going out to buy new pants. Mainly this means cutting down on beer and upping the exercise. With our 80 degree January the latter should be quite successful.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 17:34 (nineteen years ago)

I'm in on this one, although I've taken to the water in such a gung ho manner that my work day has become unproductive. We'll see how long I last...

Mike Hanle y (mike), Wednesday, 4 January 2006 06:13 (nineteen years ago)

that'd be nice. i'd like to lose 10 pounds before going to russia. probably not going to happen, but 5 maybe.

Maria (Maria), Wednesday, 4 January 2006 06:35 (nineteen years ago)

I've put on about 10lbs in the last couple of months so i'm aiming to shift those and get back on the road to slimness through healthy eating rather than dieting.

leigh (leigh), Wednesday, 4 January 2006 10:36 (nineteen years ago)

I lost like 20 pounds once on the atkins diet without even really exercising much, but it kind of sucked. I knew I woiuld not marry such an eating style.

Mike Hanle y (mike), Wednesday, 4 January 2006 16:03 (nineteen years ago)

I made Lifetime at Weight Watchers! I am officially not fat!

(I am 1.5 pounds over goal, but I can just stay on the diet another week or two, I suppose)

tokyo nursery school: afternoon session (rosemary), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 19:30 (nineteen years ago)

That's fantastic, Tokyo! I'm incredibly fat now. I weigh about 35 lbs more than I did when I visited everyone in NYC and Toronto. I feel really yucky, but I've been going to the gym for a couple of weeks now and I think I'll be able to get it all off. I've actually started to incorporate some of the no-diet diet techniques (I’ve always eaten when not hungry out of habit), but my real Achilles' heel is night time eating. I might try hoodia for that, though some sort of counselling might be more beneficial. Only 82 lbs to go until I reach my first goal.

Bryan (Bryan), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 19:41 (nineteen years ago)

Hey Bryan, good luck! Try keep a journal of what you eat, that could help with the night time eating. Or plan one small snack for after dinner.

And break up your goals into smaller ones, that helps, too.

tokyo nursery school: afternoon session (rosemary), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 19:49 (nineteen years ago)

Congratulations! You must be so thrilled! Have you got a plan on how to keep steady once you're at your target weight? I've known a few people who found it really hard to stop dieting and the weight kept on falling off until they looked awful.

Vicky (Vicky), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 19:57 (nineteen years ago)

I have been in the same 10 pound range for the past year, so I think I will do ok. In some ways it's kind of annoying that it took so long to lose ten pounds, but on the other hand I know I can maintain the weight.

Also, if I get a job at WW, that is going to have to keep me on track.

tokyo nursery school: afternoon session (rosemary), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 20:01 (nineteen years ago)

Way to go, rosemary!

Sarah Kittensmew McLusky (coco), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 20:05 (nineteen years ago)

Have finally realized why my suit pants have never fit me correctly - asshole salesman who sold them to me (five years ago) sold me one size too small!

That said, am all about this year being the year that it comes off and stays off. I'm not seeing 30 as a overweight, unemployed smoker. I'll be a 30 year old, thin(ner), non-smoker. I'm not that bad already, and I have pretty much kicked unnecessary snacking (damn football playoffs keep pulling me back in). So, in combo with my other resolutions to SEVERELY curtail drinking and to exercise more generally (walking one more train stop than normal, walking up escalators, walking to store instead of driving), these fucking suit pants should fit me come May.

Three things that can QUICKLY cut out unnecessary calories -
1) Less nights when you can drink, especially beer/sugary drinks. I am ALL for the drink, and am limiting the nights I can drink to two a week at the most. I am too busy to spend those ENTIRE days drunk, so this will curtail my consumption, which was high last year
2) No fried foods. No chips, no fries - nada. It is amazing when you do this how much crap you avoid.
3) Switch to diet soda/sugar-free sweetener for coffee. This is SO necessary for students. I live on caffiene, so excess sugar just PILES on the calories.

Cardinal Rule - if you can maintain ~3700 calorie/week deficit between your basal need and your intake, you will lose ~1 lb./week. Walking for 45 min/day while cutting out junk food will achieve this deficit EASILY.

I move that we make this an ongoing, ILX version of Weight Watchers. Attempt to keep each other honest. If uncomfortable about POUNDS lost, how about body %? "Damn, i feel GREAT! I lost 2.5% last month!"

Big Loud Mountain Ape (Big Loud Mountain Ape), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 20:53 (nineteen years ago)

I'm still 3 to 5 pounds from my goal weight. I've been like this since early december. Why are these last few pounds the hardest to lose?

Jeff. (Jeff), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 20:54 (nineteen years ago)

You have less to lose. Its the same with any body change - we're not machines, and our rates of change are not constant.

Big Loud Mountain Ape (Big Loud Mountain Ape), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 21:00 (nineteen years ago)

@Nathalie: arghhh how bad is that! That whole site is just SO extremely depressing!!!

Eva van Rein (Gaia1981), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 21:31 (nineteen years ago)

I know. She's even on a Christians with Eating Disorders webring!

Sarah Kittensmew McLusky (coco), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 21:38 (nineteen years ago)

r/z, what does lifetime mean?

I need to lose the 15 pounds or so I've been hanging onto for more than a year. Def. cutting down drinking and I've been buying more fruits and vegetables - not chips or crackers or something. At night I'll usually want to snack on something crunchy or salty - celery sticks, pickle. problem solved.

What helps most during the day is making sure there's protein for breakfast. If I have yogurt or a boiled it keeps me from being hungry longer.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 21:44 (nineteen years ago)

Argh argh argh, I now realise that I'm going to have to do this whether I like it or not.

I went to try on my LBD as the old standby for this stupid black tie gala dinner thing I'm going to have to go to for my job, and it is TOO TIGHT. This has never happened before and it worries me.

I have to lose at least a stone. OK, I weighed myself and nearly half a stone had come off in water weight after my period, but still. Argh argh argh.

I *refuse* to buy a new LBD.

Ah! The Feinbos! (kate), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 11:17 (nineteen years ago)

I've sadly found the single thing putting on my kilos is buze :| 4 wines a night with no dinner is worse than a dinner. I now have a man's fatty boombah spare tyre and chubby face and it seems this is all the wine's fault. I cant say I'll totally give it up but knowing thats the dastardly culprit certainly helps. Gaw'help me is all I can say now.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 12:00 (nineteen years ago)

My god, you mean I'd have to give up Sherry? Never!

I Can't Be Bothered To Think Of A Clever Screenname (kate), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 12:04 (nineteen years ago)

Heh I know! I cant forego my nightly Neighbours with a glass of chardy! I'd rather be HUGE!

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 12:05 (nineteen years ago)

Gee thats not helpful here tho is it eep sorry.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 12:06 (nineteen years ago)

See, I am trying to convince myself that sherry and/or brandy contain less calories than wine or especially my beloved bitter.

I Can't Be Bothered To Think Of A Clever Screenname (kate), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 12:06 (nineteen years ago)

Ive been drinking my wine watered down for over a year now but it hasn't helped, even tho thats what diet books say to do :/

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 12:07 (nineteen years ago)

two weeks pass...
so i went in the hospital weighing about 86 kilos. now, after delivery and on a (healthy!!!) diet, i'm at 67 kilos! i need to drop another 8kilos or so which will be hard, i know. but damn it has been easier than i thght!

Nathalie (stevie nixed), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 09:18 (nineteen years ago)

I've cut out crisps and chips, had no takeaways for over a week, stopped drinking wine and have cut the sugar in my tea down to one spoonful. I've also swapped my bacon rolls for yoghurt in the mornings.

I'm finding it easy so far, but my problem is expecting to see results NOW.

I need to exercise as well, I walk briskly for 15 mins every day (through neccesity) but I'd like to do something else as well.

Rumpsy Pumpsy (Rumpie), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 09:41 (nineteen years ago)

yes, no more crisps for me as well! it helps! not much exercise aside from post-natal exercise.

Nathalie (stevie nixed), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 10:33 (nineteen years ago)

I guess you'll have to take it easy for a while exercise wise, eh?

Rumpsy Pumpsy (Rumpie), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 10:48 (nineteen years ago)

I'm kinda on an unexpected enforced diet. Its called "I have suspected gallstones so if I eat fatty crap I will roll around in pain all afternoon". I tell you, eating a creamy pasta and hurting all day is the BEST way to avoid such rubbish. Even if it turns out I dont have gallstones, wanting to avoid bad food from a simple "ow" reaction will have me back to 55kg size 10 without trying at this rate :/

(mind you booze doesnt hurt, and its more fattening than anything... uh help!?)

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 10:50 (nineteen years ago)

Spirits Trayce!

I ate nothing but soup and fruit for a week while my wisdom tooth was at it's worst, I thought I'd be a lean slim waif by the time I could chew again, but the fruit had made me bloat and I looked even worse.

Rumpsy Pumpsy (Rumpie), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 10:55 (nineteen years ago)

Stress and a stomach bug dropped me 4lbs last week.

Woohoo! Go stress and illness! I think :-/

Onimo (GerryNemo), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 12:25 (nineteen years ago)

I guess you'll have to take it easy for a while exercise wise, eh?

Well, I'm taking post-natal exercise (spelling????) but aside from that I'm taking it slow cause it frigging HURTS like hell in my pelvic bone. It's something to do with gaining too much weight and the delivery. BOOO. :-)

I'm eating tons of yoghurt and drinking lots of soy milk (sort of as a candy replacement).

Nathalie (stevie nixed), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 13:16 (nineteen years ago)

I saved a few extra calories at lunchtime by spilling half of my arrabiata down the front of my shirt :-(

Onimo (GerryNemo), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 14:22 (nineteen years ago)

Yoghurt is a great substitute - and salted popcorn instead of crisps - num num.

(I had sure the salt content wasn't too high!)

Rumpsy Pumpsy (Rumpie), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 14:37 (nineteen years ago)

Of course my yoghurt covered raisins is not a very good substitute but dang it I need something schweeeeet once in a while. :-) I also drink a can of Schweppes Tonic every once in a while. I try not to obsess over it too much.

Do you guys (or girls) set a target weight? How much do you weigh yourself?

Nathalie (stevie nixed), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 15:18 (nineteen years ago)

12 stone is my target weight. I ain't gonna reach it.

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 15:41 (nineteen years ago)

That's no way to think positively!

I used to never weigh myself, but now I check each week at the same time of day, which helps me realize if I'm actually gaining or losing any or if it's all in my head/distorted self-image.

sgs (sgs), Tuesday, 31 January 2006 15:47 (nineteen years ago)

Another 2lbs lost this week, despite Pizza Hut Super Supreme Pizza followed by cinema (i.e. popcorn, pepsi & sweets).

I've now lost 10% of my body weight in 3 months, and need to lose the same again.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Tuesday, 7 February 2006 15:30 (nineteen years ago)

I have jumped off the bandwagon. Grrr. Need to get back on there and lose some weight PRONTO. :-(

Nathalie (stevie nixed), Tuesday, 7 February 2006 15:33 (nineteen years ago)

10 lbs gone so far. I'm doing ok with a 2 lb a week pace, but I despise going to the gym, so I'll either have to replace it with a game or start running or something. I just hope I can keep it up. Getting used to the modifications to my diet, especially the drastic decrease in my sugar consumption. Already seeing some signs of improvement in my mood and I'm happy that I don't have to make such an effort to fasten my trousers. Good luck to all of you.

Bryan (Bryan), Tuesday, 7 February 2006 15:40 (nineteen years ago)

has anyone done the low carb thing? ive cut out carbs (well, im staying under 5 a day) for a week now and its very easy but im freaking out for fruit juice. id kill for a glass of banana/pineapple/orange. of course, there is a ridiculous amount of sugar in fruit juices so im avoiding them.

can anyone suggest an alternative? a low carb juice? ive heard of carb countdown but its not sold anywhere near me.

sunny successor (katharine), Tuesday, 14 February 2006 15:47 (nineteen years ago)

I know it's not the same, but try some fruity tea instead (raspberry, blueberry, peach, etc.). Juice is some brutal stuff if you're sugar sensitive, even if they say it's carb-reduced or whatever. To juice drinkers this is going to sound lame, but have a few strawberries (or something) and some water and the juice "need" will pass.

rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Tuesday, 14 February 2006 16:02 (nineteen years ago)

curry & beer weekend

+2lbs :-(

Onimo (GerryNemo), Tuesday, 14 February 2006 16:03 (nineteen years ago)

x-post

There are quite a few South Beach 'followers' I missed juice at first, but now drink a lot of water and green and white tea. Chris misses juice still, so he's compromised and now has cordial that doesn't have too much sugar in it (he can't use any of the stuff with sweetners cos he's allergic, and makes it very diluted).

rrobyn otm though, just have some fruit and some water.

Vicky (Vicky), Tuesday, 14 February 2006 16:20 (nineteen years ago)

I have lost 12lb in three weeks by not being hungry. It is a good strategy.

jeffrey (johnson), Tuesday, 14 February 2006 20:40 (nineteen years ago)

i cant stand tea. it smells like hot pee to me. cordial is a great idea but ive never seen it here in the USA. ive been drinking crystal light lemonade which is zero sugar but it doesnt pack that pineapple punch. strawberries sound good. i might just do that. thanks everyone!

sunny successor (katharine), Tuesday, 14 February 2006 21:02 (nineteen years ago)

i badly need something to kick me back in gear. :-(

Nathalie (stevie nixed), Tuesday, 14 February 2006 21:57 (nineteen years ago)

I find the first couple of days are the hardest. Just find something low fat and tasty and eat that till it comes out your ears. Then once you've dropped a couple of pounds you'll feel much more motivated. Loosing weight is easy if it makes you feel better about yourself.

Lara (Lara), Tuesday, 14 February 2006 21:59 (nineteen years ago)

What about herbal tea in a really sweet flavor though? I like Stash Licorice Spice, or Yogi tea Egyptian Licorice. Licorice is naturally super sweet but there's no sugar or anything.

http://www.buy-tea-online.com/images/products/stash/1959-th.jpg

Alternately, what about having a glass of club soda with a splash of fruit juice? that's not too much sugar.

dar1a g (daria g), Wednesday, 15 February 2006 04:51 (nineteen years ago)

cant do it. my body wont comprehend drinking plants. just the smell of tea coming from another room makes me very close to puking. then again, that could be an effective diet in itself!

coffee does the same thing.

sunny successor (katharine), Wednesday, 15 February 2006 14:35 (nineteen years ago)

OK, that's weird. Does vegetable soup barf you out?

pixel farmer (Rock Hardy), Wednesday, 15 February 2006 14:48 (nineteen years ago)

a bar i used to go to in bklyn had tropical crystal lite on hand to make low carb pina coladas for the owner's best friend, who was an atkins dieter. i thought that was pretty creative.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 15 February 2006 14:48 (nineteen years ago)

thats a good idea! i need to try more flavors. ive been sticking with lemonade so far.

sunny successor (katharine), Wednesday, 15 February 2006 15:32 (nineteen years ago)

xxpost

vegetable soup is fine. yummy even. i never thought about the connection before. water often makes me puke too.

sunny successor (katharine), Wednesday, 15 February 2006 15:32 (nineteen years ago)

ugh. i make it sound like i puke all the time but its only those three things - water, coffee, tea.

oh, and porridge.

sunny successor (katharine), Wednesday, 15 February 2006 15:33 (nineteen years ago)

ideally id like to drop 5 kilos or so-- not for any particular victory over numbers but just to cut down on body fat overall

though i'm having the same problem with drinks as others upthread-- i never really thought about it before but when i end up drinking 5 nights out of 7 in a week its no surprise i cant ditch that extra weight. not to mention that every time i get ready to drink i end up eating more to try to ensure that i don't black out

nervous (cochere), Wednesday, 15 February 2006 15:52 (nineteen years ago)

I get very tired of only being able to order iced or hot tea when eating out. I can't substitute diet sodas out because aspertame makes me head- and stomach-achey. Splenda is fine, but I feel like such a whiner asking what's in the drinks. Any suggestions?

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Wednesday, 15 February 2006 18:29 (nineteen years ago)

Much to my delight, I've lost ten pounds by rather gentle dieting over these last few weeks. Pretty much I switched to salads over sandwiches for lunch and cutting out mid-morning snacks almost entirely, as well as drinking less orange juice in the morning by mixing it with sparkling water.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 15 February 2006 18:30 (nineteen years ago)

thats nice that you can lose weight that easily

i have to cut out 1,000 calories a day and exercise like a fiend just to make a dent IN MY GIGANTIC GIRTH

ive lost 5 lbs in the last few weeks from having a wicked cold. the mucus-only diet works, people.

POOP BITCH (Mandee), Wednesday, 15 February 2006 18:36 (nineteen years ago)

one month passes...
I've had the cold too, but sadly I go by the old 'feed a cold, starve a fever' adage. Extra jalepenos on the pizza please and madras style curries.

I have decided however to start cutting my portions in half - I'll see how long that lasts. It's supposed to be a sure fire way to weight loss if you don't cheat.

Rumpie (lil drummer girl parumpumpumpu), Friday, 14 April 2006 05:32 (nineteen years ago)

four months pass...
Low cal/low caloric density foods is my new thing.

Fruits & Veggies are the obvious but in addition:

Bocca Burgers - 70 Calories per pattie

Light Wheat Bread - 40 Calories a slice

Pacific Organic Soups - Roughly 100 a cup

Fat free yogurt - 90 per 1/2 cup

Kohinoor ready-made Indian meals: Aloo Ki Sabzi - 249 cal 300 grams

Subway 6" veggie: 230 cals (12" obv 460)

4 Chipotle hardshell tacos (bean & veggie) - 600 cals flat

2 Taco Bell bean burritos - 740 cals (this is the tail end of "good")

http://www.calorieking.com/ is good to get quick cal/lcd info (star rating per food item often)

if you're into counting every claorie and monitoring nutruition and calories burned, http://www.sparkpeople.com/ does it all easily and for free

Sir Dr. Rev. PappaWheelie Jr. II of The Third Kind (PappaWheelie 2), Thursday, 24 August 2006 16:20 (eighteen years ago)

I lost quite a bit of kilos but gained everything back on two weeks. BOOHOO.

Nathalie (stevie nixed), Thursday, 24 August 2006 19:47 (eighteen years ago)

I feel like kind of an asshole for having lost 65 more lbs since I last posted on this thread. I should really just not talk about it, but I do feel good about it, so wtf. It's been very hard and isn't over yet (I need to shed at least 15 more lbs if I can). If a lazy ass like me can do it anyone can.

Bryan (Bryan), Thursday, 24 August 2006 20:04 (eighteen years ago)

ive lost 20 pounds since i last posted on this thread which is pretty rad! but then i ate a bunch of nachos today, which makes me feel shitty.

i've dreamt of rubies! (Mandee), Friday, 25 August 2006 00:38 (eighteen years ago)

that's awesome bryan and mandee! i am inspired. have you been going to the gym too, m?

i eat healthily and i've been biking everywhere this summer and running, so have visible leg and arm muscles yet waist is not where i want it to be. i'm pretty active anyway, i mean, i like physical activity, i like the gym, but i realized that when all is said and done my calories were too high! and i was eating more sugar/carbs (okay, + beer) than i thought (started using fitday.com to see), which messes with my blood sugar issues too. shockah. well, fine to maintain weight but not to help lose the 10-15 lbs i've been trying to lose for the past, like, 3 yrs, which isn't a big deal (okay, kinda) but it's annoying to have all these clothes in my closet that are slightly too tight so i can't wear them. also annoying: like 5 of those pounds are in my face, screw taht crap, i like my cheekbones.

so i read this and was re-inspired. and, for more general physical and mental health reasons, i stopped drinking! which is whoa but not devestating and has had the bonus effect of helping me drop fatness. exciting, hurrah.

rrrobyn, the situation (rrrobyn), Friday, 25 August 2006 01:03 (eighteen years ago)

oh, and i started following some ayurvedic principles, in case anyone who knows me thinks i've gone off the hippie route. rest assured.

rrrobyn, the situation (rrrobyn), Friday, 25 August 2006 01:09 (eighteen years ago)

my diet has been going well, a little too well

http://www.dvdfuture.com/images/upload/machinist.jpg

timmy tannin (pompous), Friday, 25 August 2006 01:12 (eighteen years ago)

I've been doing suspiciously well. Gym or running almost every day! Then I eat whatever for breakfast (usually cereal or a muffin), try to do a salad for lunch (although sometimes I got to do the serious sandwich thing), and then a light dinner. I haven't really worked out the whole dinner thing yet.

I never weigh myself, but I did notice today that I've gone from the second belt hole to the third.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 25 August 2006 03:46 (eighteen years ago)

I have it in my head that I'll be 11 stone 13 (167 pounds) by 15th September. Not at this rate I won't. I think I've plateaued (trenched? Dunno what the right word is) half a stone above that. But I *really* want to have an 11 back in my weight so I'm attemtping to stick at it. The beer, burger and chips I had for last night's dinner might not have helped.

Earwig oh! (Mark C), Friday, 25 August 2006 12:42 (eighteen years ago)

I've been running a lot more (up to 6 miles at a time, if it weren't pouring today I'd go for 7), but am still a bit plump because I like food too much. Sigh. It's unlikely I'll make any diet changes before I go back to school in September, maybe that'll be the chance.

Maria (Maria), Friday, 25 August 2006 14:06 (eighteen years ago)

two weeks pass...
I'm losing right as I type this. I had to stop half-measures and start getting serious about counting calories (not precisely, as if that is even possible, but at least in a ballpark way). It suddenly feels very easy (of course, I am only a little more than a week into this). Whole Foods always discontinues products I like, so I'm going to have to start going back to an independent store here, Essene, which is vegetarian/macrobiotic heaven (not that I am following either one of those diets, but I'm certainly going to draw on them). This would be so simple if I had access to Fresh Tofu Inc.'s baked tofu, the only really good packaged bake tofu I've ever had. But there are other specific products like that which Essene carries. They also have good vegan baked goods (whereas Whole Foods doesn't carry many vegan baked goods any more and their baked goods in general pretty terrible). (Okay now I read some more of the thread.)

two weeks pass...
Can one eat tofu is you're on Phase 1 of South Beach?

This whole "laying off the booze" thing is a total buzzkill.

one month passes...
I've now lost 10% of my body weight in 3 months, and need to lose the same again.

Except I put it all back on instead. My blood pressure is getting towards the upper end of safe and my BMI is approaching FFS EAT CELERY.

Starting again today.

Only a month or so after the phase 1 in question is (or should be) over, the answer to Molly's query is yes! Tofu is Agatston-friendly, in fact there's a tofu-based phase 1 breakfast recipe in the good Doctor's book.

Tofu for breakfast sounds like the very definition of a modern Bad Idea, to me.

I quit smoking in march and have put on nearly all the weight i've lost. Need to stop making excuses and start eating well and exercising.

one year passes...

So how's it been going? I derailed and gained back two kilos but I almost lost'em again in a week or so. I'm now about 64 kilos. I need to go down a few kilos. My aim is 59 kilos. This will be VERY hard, I know, but it can be done.

I also took up tennis again. I'm going to play about two hrs a week. HURRAH!
