paying your leads $10 - $20M a piece might have something to do with that

saying a movie "couldn't crack [the year's] top 30" when it opened on THE LAST WEEKEND OF THE YEAR (and make $65mil in that weekend, at that) is a little bit disingenuous.

A piece of what?

Do you have any idea how much it costs to cgi-map talent onto Jim Carrey and Tea Leoni?

John Justen (johnjusten), Wednesday, 4 January 2006 18:50 (twenty years ago)

Jim Carrey has talent! He's incredibly good at being an ass.

I hope John Michael Higgins isn't getting paid w/ a percentage of the profits!

One Brad Pitt-Angelina Jolie movie (Mrs. and Mrs. Smith, $186.3 million--ninth place overall) was worth more than two Jennifer Aniston movies, combined (Derailed, $35.7 million; Rumor Has It..., $26.9 million).

A cheap shot, but I liked it.

I didn't realise there was a remake of FwDaJ. When I read the thread title, I was very confused.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Wednesday, 4 January 2006 19:01 (twenty years ago)

Practice.

this movie was pretty good

screenplay by judd apatow!

$#@!!!!!, Wednesday, 4 January 2006 19:07 (twenty years ago)

I'd imagine that's per screen...as well as gross total. It's an Adrian Zmed flick, and probably had one screening, and that's it.

four years pass...

Well, apart from "I can see how it cost that much" having seen it over the weekend...

.. I thought it pretty damn good! (And I do remember the original!)
