Thus:

In the one of the right, I look like I did before I hit puberty - the Ralph Macchio version of a adult who's balls never dropped.

In the left, the wastage of adult years is clearly visible. All the beer does go to your head and it's the right side of your head. That's why you can remember the way home, but can't talk properly.

I've said before, these shots are invariably creepy in an "uncanny valley" way, ie. evidence suggests the photos are, indeed, of you but the slight differences make you want to deny it all.

I'm kind of surprised I've never done this before. I remember seeing examples of this in one of my psychology textbooks, to accompany the research that said symmetrical faces were deemed more attractive.

I found it really hard to get a truly straight on photo and expression. I didn't quite manage it, which I think skews my results a bit. The mouth and hair and chin. On this evidence, I don't like my right hand side much at all.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 4 January 2006 22:24 (twenty years ago)

Dave's left half looks like Phil Collins, his right like Martin Freeman.

those with assymetrical haircuts should get some really hilarious results.

I've just done this, but I'm not going to post the pictures. Oddly, I prefer my right-sided doppelganger to the real me.

Alba-left is Ian Brown!
I've doodled with photoshop on this too, but I haven't really got a centered-face picture of myself, so it doesn't work.

Gerard (Gerard), Wednesday, 4 January 2006 22:51 (twenty years ago)

Does the right side always look healthier??

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Wednesday, 4 January 2006 22:53 (twenty years ago)

I look more like Max Headroom with those blinds behind me...

This is what happens when you do it with just any picture, rather than taking one that will work well:
