Young people of Britain! You too can be filled with patriotic pride by wiping an 85 year old man's arse three times a day.
'National service' is kind of misleading there, well done Graun.
― Matt DC, Thursday, 6 September 2007 12:34 (eighteen years ago)
Isn't this just duke of edinburugh awards without the hiking?
― acrobat, Thursday, 6 September 2007 12:37 (eighteen years ago)
Fuck it, bring back National Service, we don't have enough bouncers, gang henchmen, and racists in this country, may as well breed some more.

Young people would not be legally obliged to take part
That's that then.

To complete the course youngsters would need to meet the organisers, pledge allegiance to Britain, and declare what charity they had chosen and why.
What is all this British nonsense all of a sudden? Both parties are at it. Of course, the Tories are forever bellyaching about Scotland (which is part of *swelling patriotic music* Britain) "getting more money" than England; and Scottish MPs (sitting in the British parliament) voting on "English" issues (England's in Britain too); or claiming that it's untenable for a Scots MP to be Prime Minister... of Britain... which Scotland is part of... 1707 and all that... the Conservative & Unionist Party blah blah blah

This will be stolen by Labour within a year and we will all be subjected to a Daily Mail headline going 'GIVE THE HOODIES FREE HOLIDAYS - BROWN'.
― Matt DC, Thursday, 6 September 2007 12:44 (eighteen years ago)
what do you mean 'all of a sudden' Tom D?
― blueski, Thursday, 6 September 2007 12:46 (eighteen years ago)

― That one guy that hit it and quit it, Thursday, 6 September 2007 12:47 (eighteen years ago)
Actually, I suppose it's always been going on, it just seems esp. irksome at the moment
― Tom D., Thursday, 6 September 2007 12:50 (eighteen years ago)
Matt DC is kinda OTM there. If this was an idea from Labour surely it would be classed as PC Nanny State Gone Mad.
― acrobat, Thursday, 6 September 2007 12:51 (eighteen years ago)
If Marcello were here, he'd undoubtedly have mentioned Hughie Green by now
