Have watched this over and over since getting it for Christmas; I've been waiting for it to come out on DVD for many years.

Only have seen it once a couple years ago; I'm not into the music enough to love it (and I hate when Satan wins), but it's certainly handsome and watchable.

I like the music itself a lot, though my one, big criticism is that the English libretto sucks--very forced rhyming, etc. I guess it was all they had to work with at the time...

Another is that Rounseville (the guy who played Hoffmann) is too stiff.
