The bar underneath the Phoenix theatre on Charing Cross Road

I think it is becoming my favourite pub in London. It's underground, and tucked away, and sometimes members-only although they are rubbish at enforcing this. Its warm and cosy and arty without feeling poncy or pretentious, even if the old man who runs it sometimes puts on a dress and a fruit basket on his head.

And they never, ever seem to have last orders. Do you like it too?

I haven't decided whether it is a pub or a bar, although I don't much care.

It's a bar. I feel like this thread is something you started long before now, but apparently not. Maybe you just posted about it before on another thread. I've not been there in a long time.

It's a nice little place. You're right about the lax member's only thing. A director friend of mine got us in my patting his pockets and saying "oh I've forgotten my card, can we go in?" and the lady on the door let us (7) all in no trouble at all. He isn't a member but he told me he says the same thing every time and in he goes.
We got well wrecked.

I love this place too, best bar in the area (apart from the Angel which is a pub and therefore doesn't count)

I know this place! It's nice. I think when I first went in, I was expecting, you know, a crowd of luvvies.
