Your Country's Theme Music

Seeing as I am stary eyed awake at 5:30 in th morning I am listening to the UK Theme Music on Radio 4 (Britian doesn't exist between midnight and 5:30am). It consists of a medley of songs representing the nations of the UK including, Danny Boy, Greensleeves, The Drunken Sailor, Men of Harlech, A scottish one I forget the name of and Rule Britannia.

What would be the th theme music to your country, or any other? What would be a better theme for the UK?

I have always belived "Broken Wings" by Foreigner would make a great national anthem for america. Imagine it sung before every ball game by americans of all shapes and sizes

Green Olive Face (hanle y 3000), Monday, 9 January 2006 07:08 (twenty years ago)

Also Sprach Zarathrustra, for sentimental reasons

kingfish pibb Xtra (kingfish 2.0), Monday, 9 January 2006 07:15 (twenty years ago)

I like "The Star-Spangled Banner". Our theme tune should be Sham 69's "Hurry Up Harry".

Excelsior Syndrum (noodle vague), Monday, 9 January 2006 08:04 (twenty years ago)

For Australia it should be 'Shaddap You Face' by Joe Dolce.

Radio 4 should begin every morning with a stirring rendition of Ron Grainer's Old Ned.

robster (robster), Monday, 9 January 2006 09:13 (twenty years ago)

"Broken Wings" was done by Mr. Mister.

(Why am I up this late correcting Foreigner trivia?) (Pleasant Plains ///), Monday, 9 January 2006 09:29 (twenty years ago)

The US should have "America (Fuck Yeah!)" from Team America — World Police.

Hello Sunshine (Hello Sunshine), Monday, 9 January 2006 09:45 (twenty years ago)

USA - 'Lawyers, Guns, and Money', Warren Zevon

Jeff Wright (JeffW1858), Monday, 9 January 2006 13:53 (twenty years ago)

Rule Britannia would have been the National Anthem, had not the Prince of Wales died before George II.

The UK Theme is being dropped from April!

Boo, hiss! What next, getting rid of Sailing By???

(useful trivia: the UK Theme was actually written by an Austrian)

I think "Let's Roll" was already decided on for America.

andy j blige, Monday, 23 January 2006 23:10 (twenty years ago)

Greatest American Hero theme

gabbneb (gabbneb), Monday, 23 January 2006 23:12 (twenty years ago)

As was once said on the classic Late Show: our theme should be Waltzing Matilda "because its about stealing".

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 23 January 2006 23:28 (twenty years ago)

No one has the answer but one thing is true
You got to turn on evil when it's coming after you
You gotta face it down and when it tries to hide
We gotta go in after it and never be denied

Time is runnin out... let's roll.

Lets roll for freedom
Lets roll for love
Going after satin on the wings of a dove
Lets roll for justice
Lets roll for truth
Lets not let our children grow up fearful in their youth

Time is runnin out... let's roll
Time is runnin out... let's roll
Time is runnin out... let's roll

These suggestions are all too subtle. The theme for the US should just be shouting "U! S! A!" over and over and over until hoarse.

Austin Still (Austin, Still), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 01:43 (twenty years ago)

I thought "Broken Wings" was written by Francis Scott Key?
