Gut instinct poll: Should I buy a GameCube?

FOR:

- Brand new: £49.99 with Mario Kart.
- Mario Kart SNES was the only game I've ever managed to get the wife to play

AGAINST:

- I don't need one (already got an Xbox and PS2)
- The NGC is on the way out
- Only really want to get a few other games for it (RE4, Metroid, new Zelda)
- It must be about time for me to grow up now

Any thoughts (one way or the other)?

Although I guess I can't come up with a reason besides RE4, and that's out for PS2 now.

you do know what the average age for gamers is now, right?

buy a used GC. You should also be able to get a GBA adaptor cheap/free with it.

games to get/try:

Eternal Darkness
Zelda: WW
Metroid Prime 1&2
Mario Kart DD
Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life
Resident Evil 4
Donkey Konga
SSX 3&4
Pikmin 1&2
Paper Mario
Viewtiful Joe
Animal Crossing

that should start you off.

also, head here for more suggestions.

You might as well. IIRC the new Nintendo system will still be able to take Game Cube games.
