Dave B (daveb), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 11:40 (twenty years ago)

Errr... I've no idea what system I am running. Plus, I would have to download it here and burn it to disc to install it at home.

CORRR!

i can see my extension from here (fnarr)

there's precious little terrain mapping (and no buildings??) in the UK. but still it's snazzy.

Britain's Obtusest Shepherd (Alan), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 12:05 (twenty years ago)

OK, OK, I'm downloading it now.

I Can't Be Bothered To Think Of A Clever Screenname (kate), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 12:09 (twenty years ago)

there's this odd block of tees-side that's lighter than everywhere else, like the slab from 2001 punched a hole in the clouds just for hartlepool or summink

Britain's Obtusest Shepherd (Alan), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 12:26 (twenty years ago)

Buildings are only in the US at the mo. I've got 3rd-party models of teh Gherkin & St. Paul's on mine though.

robster (robster), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 13:18 (twenty years ago)

GET EQUIPPED WITH BUBBLE LEAD (ex machina), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 21:08 (twenty years ago)

I don't WANT 10.4!

adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 21:09 (twenty years ago)

Why

GET EQUIPPED WITH BUBBLE LEAD (ex machina), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 21:16 (twenty years ago)

can't be arsed. everybody said it was shit. am waiting for 10.5 ;)

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 21:19 (twenty years ago)

It was only shit in the sense of "not much better featurewise" than 10.3. I always try to run the latest because they're not really all that into fixing bugs on older versions.

GET EQUIPPED WITH BUBBLE LEAD (ex machina), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 21:21 (twenty years ago)

10.4 added a couple out of the box features (Dashboard, Spotlight) that some people are down on so they're avoiding it. The thing is, it also added a bunch of application framework crap that makes it easier to develop applications so it added features for developers. In other words, pretty much every application from here on out is going to use that stuff.

mike h. (mike h.), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 22:03 (twenty years ago)

Does it eat memory?

adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 22:04 (twenty years ago)

i am still on 10.2 :((

tres letraj (tehresa), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 22:07 (twenty years ago)

Adam, there are things that let you turn off dashboard and spotlight. I've found it to be zippier than 10.3 but you know, it has been a while since I used 10.3

GET EQUIPPED WITH BUBBLE LEAD (ex machina), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 22:22 (twenty years ago)

Okay, maybe I'll try your "10.4".

adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 22:23 (twenty years ago)

I don't understand people who are afraid of minor upgrades.

GET EQUIPPED WITH BUBBLE LEAD (ex machina), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 22:25 (twenty years ago)

Who said I'm afraid? It's mostly laziness.

adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 22:26 (twenty years ago)

yup. and now it's become pig-headedness.

oh, and cost. (and call me old-fashioned, but i really like to actually OWN the OS i use :)

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 22:32 (twenty years ago)

I don't WANT 10.4!

adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 22:33 (twenty years ago)
