My computer wouldn't boot this morning -- "keys out of order" error message in Disk Utility. The disk can't be mounted, but I managed to retrieve a bunch of stuff using FileSalvage. Sorting through it will be a hassle, though, and it seems a lot of it is gone forever. The big lesson to BACK YOUR STUFF UP has come to slap me in the face.
I've tried TechTool Pro, Disk Utility, and I've gone into single-user mode and run fsck (file system consistency check) on the device partition with the volume on it. No luck.
Is there any way to repair this volume that I haven't already tried? I will eventually get Disk Warrior, but I don't want to get it right now unless I know for sure it can fix a "keys out of order" error.
Also, has anyone else used FileSalvage? How do I navigate the piles of undifferentiated crap to find, say, a bookmarks file?
