Sick Mouthy (Nick Southall), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 16:31 (twenty years ago)

adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 16:41 (twenty years ago)

whack and unwrap?

I always thought it was tap.

I like Chocolate Orange Segsations.... especially the one with the crispy bits.

Rumpie (lil drummer girl parumpumpumpu), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 16:42 (twenty years ago)

Chocolate raunch

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 16:44 (twenty years ago)

I think they changed it to whack because tapping doesn't work. Mm they are lovely - and I didn't get a single sniff of one this xmas :(

Archel (Archel), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 16:44 (twenty years ago)

I'm glad someone besides me isn't a fan of the chocolate orange.

Allyzay must fight Zolton herself. (allyzay), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 16:46 (twenty years ago)

I got one for Christmas! It hasn;t been touched yet.

Of course not, but chocolate and orange do go together.

I wish that they would import the McDonalds Chocolate Orange McFlurry to the States. Totally classic.

Chocolate any other fruit is a total dud.

ng-unit, Wednesday, 11 January 2006 17:03 (twenty years ago)

even CHERRY?

Archel (Archel), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 17:20 (twenty years ago)

Dude, have you ever tried strawberries dipped in chocolate?

Nathalie (stevie nixed), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 17:20 (twenty years ago)

Complete classic. Even more so since it annoys David Cameron.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 17:21 (twenty years ago)

xpost: I love strawberries dipped in chocolate, etc etc. I was talking about all of Chocolate Orange's woeful cousins like the Chocolate Raspberry, the Key Lime Chocolate and the Peppermint Chocolate -- all of which are in the shape of...an orange.

ng-unit, Wednesday, 11 January 2006 19:00 (twenty years ago)

DUD. the only fruit/chocolate combo thats not awful is dipped strawberries.

Bnad (Bnad), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 19:06 (twenty years ago)

classic. i've got one as a christmas present every year since 1980.

(that looks really sad. i don't mean as my only present, obviously. although there was that lean time in 1991 ...)

do they not do the plain chocolate ones any more? can't find those bad boys anywhere now.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 19:24 (twenty years ago)

Neither tapping nor whacking work for me. I unwrap, then break nails trying pry the segments apart.

Mädchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 19:29 (twenty years ago)

Candied orange rinds dipped in dark chocolate are my favorite.

M. White (Miguelito), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 19:39 (twenty years ago)

Bnad, I was addicted to these earlier in my pregnancy!

Nathalie (stevie nixed), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 19:41 (twenty years ago)

Only the dark chocolate Chocolate Orange for me. Too too sickly otherwise, no?

Merryweather (scarlet), Thursday, 12 January 2006 00:17 (twenty years ago)

I fucking love me so Chocolate Organe.

Excelsior Syndrum (noodle vague), Thursday, 12 January 2006 00:20 (twenty years ago)

Chocoranges: classic, as is this:

Dried apricots dipped in dark chocolate are pretty great too.

xero (xero), Thursday, 12 January 2006 01:12 (twenty years ago)

I'm not a great fan of the Terry's Chocolate Orange, I find it a bit artifically-orange tasting, and a bit sickly. I do put them in everyone's Christmas stockings instead of satsumas though.

I make these for post-dinner-party petit fours! Gorgeous.

C J (C J), Thursday, 12 January 2006 09:17 (twenty years ago)

> I got one for Christmas! It hasn;t been touched yet.

how is this even possible?

like the dark chocolate one better although i only ever eat them in bar form.

koogs (koogs), Thursday, 12 January 2006 10:04 (twenty years ago)

Because I've had lots of other Christmas chocolate to eat. Not to mention a big box of licorice allsorts

(not proper Bassetts ones, a cheap knockoff variety that aren't as good cos they're all a lot softer in texture)

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Thursday, 12 January 2006 10:09 (twenty years ago)

this is the best typo i've ever seen!

Pashmina (Pashmina), Thursday, 12 January 2006 10:11 (twenty years ago)

Cheap knock-off confectionery is vile, it always leaves a strange greasy aftertaste. I'd rather not have any sweets at all, than have some Poundland imitation chocolate/sweeties with strange foreign writing on the box.

C J (C J), Thursday, 12 January 2006 10:12 (twenty years ago)

I've never had a dark Chocolate Ornage. What am I missing?

Sick Mouthy (Nick Southall), Thursday, 12 January 2006 10:19 (twenty years ago)

They're not *that* bad - the only difference, so far as I can tell, is in the softness.

They've clearly never seen a licorice root in their life, but I'm not convinced that Bassetts allsorts have either.

(most "licorice" confectionary is actually made from a mixture of flour and black treacle, which produces an easily-worked dough that tastes almost just like licorice)

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Thursday, 12 January 2006 10:21 (twenty years ago)

a little taste of heaven, nick.

Milk chocolate I cannot abide. Give me

preferably Guanaja.

M. White (Miguelito), Thursday, 12 January 2006 15:09 (twenty years ago)

Mm chocolate hornage. I too have found it harder to get the dark chocolate ones lately.

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 12 January 2006 15:41 (twenty years ago)

coffee + orange = also amazing.

coffee and cointreau!

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 12 January 2006 15:53 (twenty years ago)

Chocolate + lime = the devil's creation.

JTS (JTS), Thursday, 12 January 2006 22:58 (twenty years ago)

the picture at the top of this thread is totally disturbing.

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Thursday, 12 January 2006 23:05 (twenty years ago)

Mein gott in himmel, I'd follow someone -- anyone! -- to a sorority party and back for a dried apricot dipped in dark chocolate.
