Vic and Bob that is, Jonnie, Disco Dave and I were watching the new series of shooting stars last night and judging by the amount of laughing we did they are back on form in a big way. It was very funny indeed. Do you rate them at all, in parts or all of their work(which, by now is a lot of stuff)?

They are responsible for the funniest thing I have ever seen in my life, namely dressed as hikers with moustaches dancing/walking with ever expanding bosoms. Now doesn't that just sound hilarious? (it loses a little in words I grant you ;) )

Jonnie, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

it was... OK. haven't they aged... averagely?

I think that Vic is wearing it rather well, a bit fatter in the face but still very dapper, Bob, to me looks no different. I thought Will Self was quite funny too, and the bit at the end with Johnny Vegas sticking hoovers to his face was hilarious.

Earlier stuff slightly overrated, but consistently brilliant over a considerable stretch of time (given how tired formulae can become). Missed the new series last night but I shall endeavour to catch it in future. I expect to be laughing A LOT.

Oh, you will Cookie, it were great.

chris, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

When is it repeated, Chris?

Trevor, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

good question Trevor, let's have a looksee......

tomorrow night, 10.30 pm, BBC Choice. Why they're debuting the new series on BBC choice I'll never know (cynical marketing exercises notwithstanding)

chris, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I think maybe they're trying to make BBC Choice like E4 (which often premieres C4 shows). It'll never work with a name like 'BBC Choice'. Makes me think of Housewives' Choice.

I suppose, it's kind of trying to provoke a "look what we're missing by not having digital tv" response. What they don't promote is the fact that bbc choice is showing it just about every night this week, along with the four or so other programmes that it shows in the evening.

chris, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Bloody BBC Choice!...Vic and Bob are great! But I won't see the new series for ages. Though, keeping Johnny Vaughan tonight exclusively on BBC Choice would have been a great idea.

jel, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I can't imagine it's much fun trying to interview them, or be a fellow guest as them.

chris, Tuesday, 15 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

BBC effing Choice, I should have known! Chris, I hope you realise that you made me peruse my TV Guide for ten whole minutes in vain last night.

Trevor, Tuesday, 15 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

BBC Choice will shortly be BBC3. The BBC's YOOF! channel.

Ed, Tuesday, 15 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

terribly sorry Trevor, it's on all week so I may well be able to tape it if you want?

chris, Tuesday, 15 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Hey you crazy cats, chill. The series will be on regular BBC come February. Like they say in Ice Cold in Alex, "worth waiting for".

Jonnie, Tuesday, 15 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Chris, you sir are a scholar and a gentleman. I will however take Jonnie's advice and *chill*, and get my appetite well and truly whetted for February.
