"Yeah, you've probably heard the stories about, uh, me not being real and stuff. The thing is, I'd just joined ILX, and then we had this publicity shoot, and the pictures were all around the magazines, and people were like, "Who is she?", "What's she doing there?". Because, you know how it is with ILX, it's such a closed circle, almost like a, what do you call them, cabal or something. And then these weird rumours started spreading in the fan community... Because, uh, the in the shots they took the lighting on my face was kida weird, and people were like, is she really there with them? She looks like she's just photoshopped in. And some fans actually started believing in that, and a few of them even said - can you believe it - that they didn't even bother to do photoshop, that I was just a cardboard cutout held by Alex in NYC. And then the rumours got even weirder. People started saying I wasn't really with ILX, I was just someone they hired to broaden their appeal, you know, to connect with the youth market. And even though I had my names in the credits and all, they said I hadn't really contributed anything, that everything was done by Alex in NYC, that I was just a stand-in for him. That hurt me.

And what was even worse, the guys in the band, they though these rumours were kinda funny, and they started sorta acting along them... They started to call me Alex, and acted like I wasn't really there, and they kept asking me, when was I gonna confess I'm just him? And, you know, I was quite young and impressionable then... And I'd just started reading Philip K. Dick, and that isn't really good thing to do if you're young and impressionable, and I started thinking, what if it's true? What if I really am something imagined by Alex in NYC, only he did the job so well I don't even realize it myself? That I really don't exist. And I sorta started believing in that, and fearing that one day I would go to sleep and Alex would wake up, and I simply wouldn't be there anymore. So I had to take a break from it all, to clear my head. But I don't really hold no grudge against the band because, you know, life with ILX, that's just not real. The things you go through with them, the things you see, you sorta lose touch with reality, you have no idea what's normal anymore. But I'm okay now."

Ajakitty is finishing her masters degree in linguistics at the University of Wisconsin. The working title of her thesis is "Semantic Onomatopoeia and the Postmodern Confusion".

For the spinoff comic book series, I propose that the ILM posse fight the evil pirate mastermind Mp3beard, who has gone deaf from listening to lossy compression for years, has a parrot called Torry (short for Torrent, catchphrase: "Torry wants a crack") and a pig called Oink (catchphrase: "oink"). Mp3beard, instead of "ARRRR, me lovelies" says "ARRRRR, me loveless" all the time. His ship is the YouSendShip and his helpers are the Dime brothers (there's twelve of 'em).
