This was being discussed on the radio the other week. The consensus of opinion was that since people now mostly buy their meat from supermarkets, it has meant that many of the old-fashioned butcher's shops have disappeared from the high street (from whence people would often get bones for their dogs to gnaw on). Dogs not getting bones = less crunched up bone/calcium bits in their poo = their poo is not white any more.

It sounds sort-of believable, although I think I might have been under the influence of booze when I heard all this.

There was another thread for this once ....

Anyway, I was just thinking about white doggie poo, (as you do) because I read something about the BARF diet, which is not barf as in "barf" but B.A.R.F. which is like Bone And Raw Food or something, for dogs. Anywhay, it said that a healthy dog's poo should be white and it's all the manufactured dog food that makes dogs unhealthy. (and, as I extrapotated, gives them nonwhite poo.)

And here I though bones could splinter and be harmful to dogs.

Does anybody remember the 'white dog shit' eating craze from years ago?. I believe it started in New York USA in the mid 70's during the 'Punk' era. I myself tried it because I liked to stay trendy but found it not to nice. Very chalky in texture and with a distinctively foul taste. I did not partake a second time. Mark
