I know if I had to show people where the good drinks are I'd be scared. But maybe that's just because Dublin is such a dump. I suppose there are a few cool places. Still, even the places I like might not be other peoples cup of tea.

And as I've implied before, whose fault is that? YOUR OWN, for having a life and not consulting with your doppelganger.

A quick look at the March site, by the way, reveals scary news (they've signed the fellow from the Railway Children, who will presumably be locked up with the Ocean Blue in the Great March Cabinet of Ancient Curiosities) plus great news (Wolfie are breaking up -- if only they'd done it before going to shit). Please note that I like both the Ocean Blue and the Railway Children, I'm just not sure I'd be signing any of them at this point, and particularly not both. Especially when if my order site were called Future Pop Shop.

Look out here you pompous jerk Look out here I go berserk
Well I guess you put me in my place but I won't forget your stupid face
(a) Does Ally like My Favorite? Ally is sort of like the Strokes in that I have a hard time imagining her liking any band at all. I think there's a 95% probability that she loathes My Favorite but then a 5% probability that she's madly in love with them.
(b) I don't like saxophones: doesn't this mean I won't like New York?
(c) Do any of you know a bar called Botanica? And what have you to say about it? This is not a meet-up suggestion as I'll have to be there at other times; I'm just curious. I want dirt on it.

Personally, I am super-jazzed for Friday's show because A) Aden "rocks" and B) I am quite curious about Ooberman & the Saturday People and C) Barcelona (unfortunately, for those of us with an affinity for such shenanigans) are calling it quits.
― David Raposa, Wednesday, 16 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)
(b) I would want to see Aden except I've already seen them twice over the last year. And I'm sort of curious about the Saturday People, as I remember Archie V-Girl being a very nice guy on the indiepop list and being very enthusiastic about this project, but alas: I will probably need to be elsewhere that evening. I can't imagine Barcelona being good live, considering that even on record they can never seem to live up to the blazing snottiness some of their songs seem to imply. Am I wrong?

There's a good little coffeeshop up the street from Brownies, I think, in which one can actually order coffee, pastry, and then SMOKE indoors. I don't believe alkyhol is served there, I'm just saying in case a place near Brownies is needed...

Of course, no alcohol = no dice. This is a tough crowd.
― David Raposa, Thursday, 17 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)
B) No alcohol, not going.
There's my stand on that. I'm thinking a more central and dark and mysterious locale. I probably couldn't make it til after dark, due to work constraints, but we'll see.
― Ally, Thursday, 17 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)
Or are there "dark and mysterious" locations on Amsterdam Ave?
― Benjamin, Thursday, 17 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)
Ah, but surely I'm there on the weekend, after all. ;-) However, I heartily agree night = good.

However, I have this to say- go see The Saturday People! They're aces... I think I'm right in saying that a guy we know called Ara was in them (are you reading this, Steve? You'd remember), and he's lovely... but they're good, anyway.
