Bob Waliszewski, head of the media review department at Focus on the Family, said that he was saddened by e-mail messages from angry Christians who said they would not see the movie.
A generation of young people were inspired to become missionaries by the true story, and Mr. Waliszewski said he had hoped a new generation would be moved by "End of the Spear."
"Has Focus on the Family made a strong statement against homosexuality? Absolutely," he said. "But what is the message of the product? And do we at Focus feel compelled to check on the sexual history of everyone in a movie? Did they have a D.U.I.? Did they pay their taxes?"
Mr. Hanon echoed: "If we start measuring the sin of everyone in a movie, we would never be able to make a picture because none of us would be left."
And whoever thought I'd be giving credit to Focus on the Family, but anyway.

10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.10:36 And a man's foes [shall be] they of his own household.10:37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

It is an article of pinnacle stupidity to discover that one of the greatest American Christian martyrs of a generation, Nate Saint, is being portrayed by a homosexual actor in a film intended to inspire Christendom to great acts of moral imitation. This represents a deep failure on the part of evangelists and tellers of the story; the purpose of art is to imitate nature. What precisely is inspirational about the story of Nate Saint if the very person who portrays him in the movie cannot be moved to imitate Mr. Saint? It reduces the entire thing to people pretending, not people being moved. It sends the message that you can look good and not be good. In short, it sends all the wrong advancements. The people who made this movie, the family, etc, should immediately remove it from circulation and sue the actor for fraud. This is Nate Saint, not Pink Nate Goes to Prom. Good night.

Hi, I'm Andy, and I guess you could say I'm murder-curious.
Haha that blog in the second post has a comment which starts "Its a movie. Should Christians be involved in that stuff in the first place?".

Police in Guatemala have arrested a gang of religious fanatics on suspicion of possessing illegal weapons and extortion, and the possible murder of five people in a small town.
San Lucas Toliman, about 70 kilometres west of Guatemala City, was the target of the seven men, who called themselves the Social Cleansing of the Town, police allege.
They are also alleged to have killed as many as five people they considered criminals. Part of their purported work also involved setting up their own roadside checkpoints to charge travellers to pass through.
"This was a fundamentalist Christian organization in character that harangued the town's population on religious themes," said Victor Soto, head of the national criminal investigations unit.
The group allegedly targeted anyone suspected of not following the Bible, including taking part in theft or marital infidelity, said police.
Their work started with delivering notes containing biblical quotations and threats.
The seven are being held while police carry out ballistics tests.
