Do you wish that you wee Martin Lawrence?

I'm just curious. I wonder if this is the first thread I've started on ILE....I'd put it on ILBaseball, but they'd get mad. Anyway, the question stands, bolstered by the following crib from IMDB:

Martin Lawrence, salary:
Bad Boys II (2003) $20,000,000
National Security (2003) $20,000,000
Black Knight (2001) $16,500,000
What's the Worst That Could Happen? (2001) $13,000,000
Life (1999) $8,500,000
Nothing to Lose (1997) $6,000,000

Is it worth it? You know he was married to Miss Virginia, for like a year? Does that help?

disgusting

I am SO PROUD of my typo in the thread title.

Hurlothrumbo (hurlothrumbo), Friday, 3 February 2006 00:03 (nineteen years ago)

He seems to be less of a cunt than Jim Carrey, salary $TUPID MONEY.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Friday, 3 February 2006 00:09 (nineteen years ago)

I love Jim Carrey :(

I don't wish I were Martin Lawrence.

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Friday, 3 February 2006 00:12 (nineteen years ago)

I wish I shat Paula Zahn, does that count?

Thomas Tallis (Tommy), Friday, 3 February 2006 00:13 (nineteen years ago)

I'm not exactly 100% sure what makes one a cunt -- but he's not exactly the most...lovable guy in the world. Except the loaded-gun-on-airplane thing, that was definitely lovable. That's one of my favorite pharm-addled celebrity moves. That and being picked up dazed, naked and incoherent on a street corner somewhere. Oh yeah, that's Martin too! He's like Connick crossed with Heche!

Hurlothrumbo (hurlothrumbo), Friday, 3 February 2006 00:15 (nineteen years ago)

Jim Carrey jumped into my head as an actor getting inexplicably huge salaries.

That's an amazing salary for Life, no wonder it lost money (assuming Eddie Murphy was paid as much or more).

Budget
$75,000,000 (estimated)
Opening Weekend
$20,414,775 (USA) (18 April 1999) (2,594 Screens)
£367,806 (UK) (29 August 1999) (198 Screens)
Gross
$63,844,974 (USA) (8 August 1999)

Onimo (GerryNemo), Friday, 3 February 2006 00:24 (nineteen years ago)

Sorry for the derail here but who the fuck agrees these wages?

Eddie Murphy:

The Adventures of Pluto Nash (2002) $20,000,000
Dr. Dolittle 2 (2001) $20,000,000 (TWENTY MILLION DOLLARS FOR MAKING A FILM THAT GROSSES $4M!)
Nutty Professor II: The Klumps (2000) $20,000,000 (and 20% of the gross)
Doctor Dolittle (1998) $17,000,000
The Nutty Professor (1996) $12,000,000
Beverly Hills Cop III (1994) $15,000,000

Onimo (GerryNemo), Friday, 3 February 2006 00:28 (nineteen years ago)

(TWENTY MILLION DOLLARS FOR MAKING A FILM THAT GROSSES $4M!)

That was meant to be after Pluto Nash.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Friday, 3 February 2006 00:29 (nineteen years ago)

you think he'd feel guilty and give some of it back

RJG (RJG), Friday, 3 February 2006 00:31 (nineteen years ago)

It's funny to think of Warner Brothers dropping $100M on this while Eddie walks around doing his big Beverly Hills Cop laugh then goes and picks up another 8 figure cheque for speaking over a cartoon.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Friday, 3 February 2006 00:37 (nineteen years ago)

I saw Pluto Nash in the theater -- it's like one of the six movies I've seen in the theater in the last four years. I have no idea why this is; I simply can't explain it. I heard I Spy was pretty funny, though...maybe he got good'n'paid for that one too.

Hurlothrumbo (hurlothrumbo), Friday, 3 February 2006 00:46 (nineteen years ago)

i spy is pretty funny!

j blount (papa la bas), Friday, 3 February 2006 01:51 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, it's on my netflix queue....because that's how I roll. I like Eddie Murphy just fine, thank you very much -- guess that answers why I saw Pluto Nash in the theater, maybe.

Hurlothrumbo (hurlothrumbo), Friday, 3 February 2006 02:13 (nineteen years ago)

He ruled in "Bowfinger."

Rickey Wright (Rrrickey), Friday, 3 February 2006 02:20 (nineteen years ago)

Seriously, WTF does anyone DO with TWENTY MILLION DOLLARS? I dont think I could spend it in a lifetime. Man. Its disgusting.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 3 February 2006 03:20 (nineteen years ago)

I could spend it. I'd hoard all my fucking dough from Black Knight, National Security and Bad Boys II, and I'd bankroll Black Knight II (assuming Gil Junger was still available to direct).

Hurlothrumbo (hurlothrumbo), Friday, 3 February 2006 03:31 (nineteen years ago)

don't know whether you're serious or not but I'd totally see Black Knight II in the theater. I saw Black Knight at least 5 times before I just dropped the 'guilty pleasure' conceit and just bought the damn thing. I'm a sucker for his schtick, and too lazy to fight it. When Blue Streak or Big Momma's is on TV it's ON.

tremendoid (tremendoid), Friday, 3 February 2006 04:07 (nineteen years ago)

In hollywood movie industry, actor exploits YOU!

I would spend most of it on making Lynn Johnston's (For Better Or Worse) life a living hell. God I fucking hate that comic.

S- (sgh), Friday, 3 February 2006 06:35 (nineteen years ago)

Good answer. I would also buy a lot of Lego.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Friday, 3 February 2006 06:56 (nineteen years ago)

If I were Martin Lawrence, that would mean I was Martin Lawrence. Why would I want that?

Aimless (Aimless), Friday, 3 February 2006 07:33 (nineteen years ago)
