Trivia for
"Simon & Simon" (1981)

This show was almost canceled in its first season, but the ratings drastically increased after it was rescheduled to follow "Magnum, P.I." (1980).

The show was filmed in San Diego. During the run of the show, CBS tried to get the locale of the show switched because they felt San Diego wasn't "sexy" enough. The effort failed.

the show went until 1988? crazy. so many bad gags in this show, which is about all that stands out in my mind. i wonder if it ever gets repeats.

Have none of you remembered that Tyne Daly died for your sins?

simon & simon was hardly a "drama"

having fun with stockholm cindy on stage (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 6 February 2006 21:42 (twenty years ago)

But it did invovle boats, did it not?

kingfish has gene rayburn's mic (kingfish 2.0), Monday, 6 February 2006 21:46 (twenty years ago)

a few episodes probably did, if it took place in san diego. but the "home base" of the episodes was their office.

i remember some dark turns in the narrative at certain dramatic junctures, as well as a rigorous mise-en-scene

my mistake. for some reason, i thought we were still referring to Riptide, which did involve boats.

Simon & Simon did have less boat-related action, yes.

Never watched Simon and Simon really, but OH riptide meant so much to me.
My real fave from that general (?) timeperiod was Manimal, which I remember being about twenty times better than Shakespeare.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 7 February 2006 06:41 (twenty years ago)

I was a nut for The Equalizer, maybe because kids in school kept telling me I looked like him. Because I was blonde, I guess.

Paunchy Stratego (kenan), Tuesday, 7 February 2006 06:47 (twenty years ago)

I think I looked more like AJ Simon, personally.

Paunchy Stratego (kenan), Tuesday, 7 February 2006 06:49 (twenty years ago)

The best thing about the Equalizer was the way they introduced him in the credits as "THE _EQ_UALIZER"

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 7 February 2006 06:51 (twenty years ago)

He was real good at twiddling the premaster amp.

Yes. He ably doled out sonic justice.
