There's a recording artist named Young Jeezy. Really.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Sunday, 5 February 2006 18:39 (nineteen years ago)

The big bands are coming back.

m coleman (lovebug starski), Sunday, 5 February 2006 18:41 (nineteen years ago)

The future lies in country-reggaeton fusion. "Daddy Yankee"

m coleman (lovebug starski), Sunday, 5 February 2006 18:56 (nineteen years ago)

I learned how to love the bomb.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn (Alfred Soto), Sunday, 5 February 2006 18:58 (nineteen years ago)

For true! Of course ever since Wednesday I've been seeing the guy's name at every newsstand ...

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Sunday, 5 February 2006 19:22 (nineteen years ago)

i realized from the picture of sufjan in the print edition that i think i took a photo of him playing banjo in a anti-globalization demonstration in quebec. but i can't find anything confirming he was there.

Dude "Young Jeezy" is just Chuck's hip-hop name.

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Sunday, 5 February 2006 20:29 (nineteen years ago)

Chuck E's MP3 player is still flashing 12:00.

what's the over/under on days before morb starts snidely referring to him as Young Queasy (ha ha!)

mark p (Mark P), Sunday, 5 February 2006 21:05 (nineteen years ago)

the only thing I liked about the album poll was seeing Jeezy directly above the Boss. If Bruce is aware I'm sure it inspired him to buy a copy of Thug Motivation (if he hadn't already!)

Zwan (miccio), Sunday, 5 February 2006 21:10 (nineteen years ago)

same artist damn near

j blount (papa la bas), Sunday, 5 February 2006 21:13 (nineteen years ago)

Thenk yew, teeny.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 6 February 2006 06:41 (nineteen years ago)

Don't you love drunken, monomaniacal morons?? Keep on pastin', dude!

bette groble (van dover), Monday, 6 February 2006 07:01 (nineteen years ago)

Kanye West is the most talented musician of the "young century."

With 5 down/95 to go I'd call that grasping after significance...or maybe damning w/faint praise?

m coleman (lovebug starski), Monday, 6 February 2006 11:34 (nineteen years ago)

I'd never heard of "Young Jeezy" either before I stumbled accross the name a few months ago on ILM.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Monday, 6 February 2006 11:54 (nineteen years ago)

I've never encountered Amadou & Mariam either (whom I will very likely check out), but I imagine they're getting far fewer mag covers than Jeezy.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Monday, 6 February 2006 16:14 (nineteen years ago)

don't count on it

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 6 February 2006 16:16 (nineteen years ago)

From the reader's comments section:

Go read Kant again, asshole

Rockist_Scientist (RSLaRue), Monday, 6 February 2006 16:28 (nineteen years ago)

The fact that Christgau listed the Rough Guide to the Music of the Sahara as his #2 album makes it more likely that I will buy it (and within the near future), but then it doesn't really take much arm-twisting to get me interested in that.

Rockist_Scientist (RSLaRue), Monday, 6 February 2006 16:32 (nineteen years ago)

I listened to Amadou & Mariam LP a few months ago, it sounded pretty good, especially considering that it was produced by Manu Chao, the foremost proponent of low nutrition hippy-dippy WorldMusic Lite.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Monday, 6 February 2006 16:32 (nineteen years ago)

I still haven't read it, and I doubt I ever will.

tokyo nursery school: afternoon session (rosemary), Tuesday, 7 February 2006 01:09 (nineteen years ago)
