How did I know you were in Chicago?

Paunchy Stratego (kenan), Tuesday, 7 February 2006 18:07 (nineteen years ago)

Probably a particular turn of phrase in the thread title.

deej.. (deej..), Tuesday, 7 February 2006 18:08 (nineteen years ago)

Oops to thread.

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 7 February 2006 18:15 (nineteen years ago)

I think chi-town's a bit far for a lunchtime run. I don't even have a car right now!

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Tuesday, 7 February 2006 18:20 (nineteen years ago)

i got a roast beef sandwich for lunch

james van der beek (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 7 February 2006 18:21 (nineteen years ago)

I think I might just opt for turkey.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Tuesday, 7 February 2006 18:22 (nineteen years ago)

i had a cigarette for my mid-morning snack today

james van der beek (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 7 February 2006 18:27 (nineteen years ago)

There was a Chicago-of-sorts sammich place near here for a while. Alas it has since closed because the owner went to the hospital (probably from enjoying his fine products too much).

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 7 February 2006 18:30 (nineteen years ago)

Cor, ILX (sort of) mindmeld! I had a Subway meatball sub with extra chillis on it. On Italian bread. Does that count (I hadn't seen this thread, since I had my lunch five hours ago)?

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 7 February 2006 18:40 (nineteen years ago)

Ooh, I'm going to the Aero Market for a BBQ sandwich today!

The Equator Lounge (Chris Barrus), Tuesday, 7 February 2006 18:53 (nineteen years ago)

PIZZA. yesterday i had a roast beef sammich, though.. but not quite same.

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Tuesday, 7 February 2006 18:55 (nineteen years ago)

i would kill a litter of newborn puppies for a chicago italian beef right now.

bad news bare, Tuesday, 7 February 2006 20:28 (nineteen years ago)

there are a couple of chicago style joints in the san fernando valley, this one called taste chicago in burbank and another one, the name of which escapes me, on woodman just north of ventura blvd.

gear (gear), Tuesday, 7 February 2006 20:29 (nineteen years ago)

I had beef teriyaki. I'm really in the mood for some Afghan food but after not having been to that restaurant for a while, I feel weird suddenly turning up in the midst of the Cartoon Row.

Rockist_Scientist (RSLaRue), Tuesday, 7 February 2006 20:30 (nineteen years ago)

Tomorrow: GYROS

deej.. (deej..), Wednesday, 8 February 2006 02:20 (nineteen years ago)

Actually that was dinner tonight.

deej.. (deej..), Wednesday, 8 February 2006 02:20 (nineteen years ago)

My body loves me.

deej.. (deej..), Wednesday, 8 February 2006 02:20 (nineteen years ago)

the last time i was in chicago i was only there for a couple of hours while waiting to make an amtrak connection. the first and only thing i did when i left the station was to get an italian beef. i know my priorities.

having fun with stockholm cindy on stage (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 8 February 2006 02:22 (nineteen years ago)

My lunch was pad thai from Uwajamaya. YUMMY.

I'm jealous of the italian sandwich. Seattle has generally lousy italian subs. Most of them are pale imitations of the right thing- like, no oil or vinegar *at all* or *american* cheese on them.

lyra (lyra), Wednesday, 8 February 2006 02:47 (nineteen years ago)

yes but you have SALUMI!

having fun with stockholm cindy on stage (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 8 February 2006 02:51 (nineteen years ago)

This might incur the wrath of Jaq, but I was a little disappointed by Salumi.

pixel farmer (Rock Hardy), Wednesday, 8 February 2006 02:53 (nineteen years ago)

The salumi ALPS is the most beautiful sandwich ever made (after each of my first salt bagel back in NYC after months in Seattle). Unfortunately, it's a summer sandwich only... I can't wait until May when it returns.

lyra (lyra), Wednesday, 8 February 2006 03:08 (nineteen years ago)

This fuckwad hasn't made a movie that did not tuirn into a snoozefest really fast.

Negro With No Name (Negro With No Name), Wednesday, 8 February 2006 04:31 (nineteen years ago)

i was just chatting today w/an old workmate from chicago about Mr Beef. it used to be around the corner from my work and this dude would go there every day. i'd only been once as it was kinda gross. meat, juice, bread.

i also went to a place in SF that just opened today called Toaster Oven that is an EXACT replica of Pot Belly. the only thing i really miss about chicago is the food.

team jaxon (jaxon), Wednesday, 8 February 2006 04:31 (nineteen years ago)

Saausage for lunch is always key. Onions, greeen peppers and some hot peppers thrown down with a beer or two is what life is about.

Nigger With No Life (Nigger With No Life), Wednesday, 8 February 2006 04:42 (nineteen years ago)

Today I am broke, so I'm getting a White Hen sandwhich of some sort. Perhaps Tuna.

i am not a nugget (stevie), Wednesday, 8 February 2006 17:45 (nineteen years ago)

I've never actually eaten meat in Chicago in the five years I've been here.
