Web COmmunities

You know of them. Small communities on the web. web sites that you often visit and you think many people know of it but then you realize you don't know anyone who knows of it. All these little virtual scenes - people from all over the world taking part in such things... but how will this change the way we think of music and creativity? Will the ideal standards of what is "good" and popular dissolve away? Have they already? Perhaps pop music of today is poop music becuase of this. No more Rolling Stone to tell you what is good. Many many websites everywhere. Pick your world! Nevermind the mainstream, it no longer exists!

is this intentional?

Sometimes not. It's an age thing.

I don't think anyone intentionally makes bad music. They think it will be awesome. Perhaps the music business is to blame. Always shoving Britneys at us with verve

I always think of that quote Momus said/stole about being 'famous for 15 people'.

"take this bittersweet jailbait"

"no"

"TAAAKE IT!"

(xpost)

Mr Jones OTM. I don't want Verve with my Britney.

Nor Spice Girls with Travis!
speakling of web communitites- what the frunk does "xpost" mean!

I read something the other day that said people are usually ahppiest in groups of 50-100 people - maybe that why web communities are so liked

Mr Jones (Mr Jones), Thursday, 9 February 2006 13:16 (nineteen years ago)

cross post. I think (or at least how I use it) is to say that it's not the previous post that I'm replying but one before. It gets kind of confusing and it's normally when a thread is moving quite quickly.

Kv_nol (Kv_nol), Thursday, 9 February 2006 13:18 (nineteen years ago)

Ah I see. I thought it meant something like "this is a stupid post" - like "excuse this post" . In our web community, it does not mean that. How esoteric!

Mr Jones (Mr Jones), Thursday, 9 February 2006 13:21 (nineteen years ago)
